Re: Feeling, question, answer ?
There is data, someone gathered some at least, but playing games and looking at replays and thinking with your head are a hundred times more important. Stats tell something about how things are, but nothing about how they should be. And there's already methods to keep your units apart, customformati...

Re: Feeling, question, answer ?
Basically the question is, what direction do the devs want to take BA? I don't really have any idea, which makes it kinda pointless to suggest changes or critique changelogs since I cannot properly judge if they reach their purpose or not, since people rarely know the reason behind them.

Re: Core Pyro DPS ?
Well, most stats are still same, and the mistakes are only in the dps calculations that you wouldn't get at all by just looking through the .lua files.Silentwings wrote:In general, avoid that page because is relates to a years old version of BA. And as nix points out, it also contains mistakes.

I don't get what's so funny or nonsense here, nor do I know where has cargo cult term been thrown around, not on this forum at least.

Re: Why hasn't DSD been banned?
That doesn't mean it's understood, the common strategies employed by average players are more cargo cult than anything else. But when you have players of such wide spectrum of skill and little trust for each other, you cannot expect proper cooperation outside the usual rotes.

Re: Why hasn't DSD been banned?
See timestamps: 14 minutes from joining room to game start, even if multiple times all players had map and were ready. But always new players join or leave and new map must be found etc. Sometimes takes even longer. Yeah, this hassle is the biggest offender why games take long to start. When joinin...

Re: Why hasn't DSD been banned?
But I do agree that it tends to become boring. I think the problem is with the maps, there are too few good maps on the hosts suitable for team battles, if that's what you are interested in. Not really, already going for DSD duo or whatever it's called, is tons more exciting than plain DSD. Problem...

Re: ready button
(Please bear with me, I'll soon get to the point). The whole "custom game" setup, where people join rooms and wait for the required amount of players to accumulate, retrieve game resources and press ready has a few issues: ... It doesn't have to be changed that much to be smooth, I think....

You don't need to hold e down. Press e once, then hold alt down, then drag.

Re: BA 7.78 Released!
Yeah the problem with Bantha is that it's boring. It's ok if there's a simple unit whose purpose is to just have a ton of HP and some good firepower too (+selfd option), but if it's too powerful it turns from something good at taking on big defenses for cost, into something good at taking on anythin...

Re: BA 7.78 Released!
Played some matches with the new sea with Flop, Teddy and bybyk. The overall feeling was that you get just too much stuff too fast, the game turns too much into lucky RPS this way. Changing the shipyard and tidal isn't a good way to try fixing the bigger sea maps which are usually flawed by default,...

Well, an "Unready" button would be nice. But if this is a real issue it's about peoples attitudes that'd need changing, instead of the tech.

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
I think the scale prohibits intensive micro somewhat.. you cant battle at 3 places at the same time and still have a sc-like unit diversity. The one crucial ressource (player attention) is allready at a breaking point at that moment. It's no problem unless possibly because have spherical maps where...

Re: (testballon) BA challenge map
Ok, switched to non-mt and it works. I was well on my way to clearing the map on the first try, then suddenly every enemy but the nullai blows up since my dudes found the white comm and killed him. There's so little AA on the map that gunships can easily kill everything, and nicely reclaim everythin...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
So does the alpha at all touch on the Planetary stuff yet, moving between planets, firing between them, etc.? Or just a TA-like with a weird-shaped map for now?

Why? Getting a 1v1 is quite faster than bigger games.PauloMorfeo wrote: * most of the time spent with "playing" SpringRTS is hanging around the lobby waiting for yet another 4v4 game to start (because you won't even try to get a 1v1).

Seems like it's supposed to look like DSD at a glance while being thorougly different from it, being pelvis is just a quirk of nature.

Re: Reversing conships!
The cheap yard and tidal are what would mess things the most, and also it wouldn't make early game sea any more forgiving - you get to spam a lot of vettes that way, both players, and this encourages rushing a lot since making cons + mexes gives less extra m in comparison to the amount you can spend...
