Re: Bryce* maps: strange red ground
I never figured out how people made maps with spaces in their names. How do you use a DOS command-line oriented compiler and have it generate "Map Name.smt"?
This should be added to some sort of Wiki, warning people of the dangers of adding a space to your compiled map name.

Re: Nostalgia
My earliest spring memory was doing 2v2s on Core Prime Industrial Area on AA...I would spam like 30 bertha ships every game. We won 6 or 7 matches in a row and then Isaac came in and obliterated us with a proper instigator rush. After CPIA it was all SSB games for a while, until I was tired of the u...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
3v3's/4v4's seem pretty rare now if I'm not mistaken. The community seems to have a bimodal split between 1v1 vets who don't care that they never build 90% of the units in the game, and the 8v8 noobs who never get raided and play simbase. A shame really, they are my favorite size games. I like a lit...

a match of which has probably never happened. actually it did, especially in 0k, u should be happy ! Not really, lol, 8v8 Talus sounds very boring to me. At least they're having fun though. anyway, problem with this pic u showed, is that all these paths of epic win are one time attack. its the matt...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
The topic went from 3v3 Talus to 4v4 Talus to 8v8 Talus, a match of which has probably never happened. it was you who compared 3v3 Talus to 8v8 DSD: Noobs getting run over in 3 minutes on Talus from a single micromanaged AK is why they don't play it, and revert to DSD where they sit behind meatshie...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
Imo 8v8 Talus offers as much noob protection as 8v8 DSD. ouch XD What a burn. The topic went from 3v3 Talus to 4v4 Talus to 8v8 or 10v10 Talus, matches of which have probably never happened, and he would still be wrong for the reasons I've discussed at length. Terrain and resource distribution infl...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
No having to worry about game awareness & multi tasking which are most difficult for new players in RTS. Though I dont see how playing like this is any fun. Vet blindfold. Noobs getting run over in 3 minutes on Talus from a single micromanaged AK is why they don't play it, and revert to DSD whe...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
I say, all BA team games are of a very linear nature, no matter what the map. I see no (or little) difference in strategy between "noob maps" and "pro maps" But I just pointed out to you why this is not true!! I just showed you the difference in strategy - lateral attack paths t...

but with an old version... atm only found this one uploaded, I'll just asume it is as good as any other: http://h-2.abload.de/img/4v4talus_medianult3.png Right, so here's why Talus is neat. You've drawn a red line for green team there in the middle of the map, but that's not where red team has adva...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
So even on this map where units can go anywhere, the main path of units is from base to center. Comet Catcher is a great example of a very noob-unfriendly map. It has extreme popularity among veterans, and is rarely played by noobs. While the average front on Comet Catcher in your images are visibl...

Re: Why Mass Appeal = Noob Appeal, A Short Dissertation
The linear nature of these maps forces conflict in an obvious, single front. that is true for all > 3v3 maps in spring. Show me the obvious, single front on a square map. Barring a map with nothing but cliff walls and a tiny chokepoint in the middle for all units to go through, I'm sorry, you're no...

Air will be more important than normal. Looks like LU...

Re: Tabula v4 - Updates with new features
Really the original [/u] with water was fairly realistic, sand on a seabed is realistic. But it does not look realistic when you remove the water. In reality grass would grow even in the grass(in such a climate) so you would have lots of grass clumps in the desert or even a firm grass covering. Onl...

All the answers I needed to hear
I have a layout in mind, so all of this bit wouldn't be done until the end. Time to fire up WM.
