It is not a game either though. Players typically think spring is a game because the game files are called mods and players do not read mod(ule) they read mod(ification).

To my understanding 2.5D functionality is built into the engine. In BA, if you zoom out - somewhere between rendering units as icons and 3D models - the units are rendered as 2D spirites at various angles. yep that did it. So in unitcreated I wonder if they would have orders, I am not sure why kdr has it going in gameframe, seems an odd choice. I will investigate further.
