Re: Bitcoin mining made easy
Bitcoins just strike me as high-tech goldbuggery with a dash of dotcom bubble. Sure, it's popular with money launderers, drug dealers and other forms of organized crime but how long will regular people want to bother with it?

I'm kinda indifferent. Large battles are pretty but sometimes not very interactive. Sometimes few hero units are more interesting. Also does our pathing deal well with huge unit counts yet? 10k units are no good when they all march single file.

Why even make it PvP? An AI won't complain when its role is boring.

Re: "Playing SimCity"
I have this old DOS-based city builder called Utopia I think, in it you build a city and fight against another city. Still, you won't get around the central problem that people who play city builders usually want a relaxed game and competitive RTSes are always fast paced and stressful because you go...

Re: smoth's junk.
Good, I remember having trouble with GINTA because the camo was fairly effective and it was hard to spot units.

Re: smoth's junk.
Camo on ground units helps against planes and stuff. Unfortunately in an RTS it also helps against players so unrealistic, blaring color schemes are better for gameplay purposes.

Re: MissileLauncher and Accuracy/Sprayangle
(in)accuracy is calculated only once per burst (in case you try to set "accuracy" instead of "sprayangle"). That's the reason why there are two different tags, sprayangle is within a burst while accuracy is only for the whole burst (basically spray is how inaccurate the weapon i...

Re: How to remove first-person control targeting restriction
I'm guessing he wants FPS mode to play more of a role anyway because even without restrictions it's still rather useless since the computer can aim faster and generally do everything you want from the unit anyway.

Re: How to remove first-person control targeting restriction
Missiles are not the only thing that can exceed its range and besides, you want things like guided missiles to be able to go past the targeting range and chase enemies.

Re: How to remove first-person control targeting restriction
You can also just reimplement FPS mode using Lua and confering whatever advantages you have in mind for an FPS player. E.g. in Air Raid I implemented my own approach to manual controls. FPS is gimped because it was able to break some assumptions about what units can do, especially when it comes to t...

Re: Question about sides
The Gaia team is always the last team on the list. And yeah, it's hostile to all so all player units will autotarget Gaia and Gaia will autotarget other units so you have to do something to prevent them from fighting each other if you want neutrals.

Re: MissileLauncher and Accuracy/Sprayangle
Sounds like a bug to me. When I last dealt with these things (which admittedly was VERY long ago) missiles followed spray and acc the same way other weapons did: The projectiles spawned with a random error in their initial facing. Obviously a homing missile will seek to correct this error and thus a...

Starsector has some pretty awesome AI. Yeah, there are exploitable patterns but it's far, far more competent than I'd expect.

I just wish it was trippier. I beat it 100% (well, whole map explored and all signs seen, probably didn't get all purple cubes but couldn't be arsed anyway) in 4 hours. After a crazy opening it becomes rather mundane and full of block puzzles.
