Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

Invest in Bitcoin with the expectation that it will not make you profits, it will only protect you from inflation and provide you with capabilities that you did not have access to before. You will probably not be disappointed, and there is a chance you will be very glad in the future. Don't make su...

Re: disallow renames in lobby for normal users?

Renames do not change accountID, right? Why not simply keep an history of names associated with an accountID that could be queried (with extra metadata such as timestamps bounding associations)? A bot could keep track of previous names, as IMO this should not be handled by uberserver itself. And wit...

Re: Lua lobby?

If you reengineer the lobby protocol to add extensions (or anything else), it would be nice to implement some kind of login process that protect user credentials from Eve. It currently require client to do some kind of magic hashing, but as hashed password can be replayed as-is, it is akin to no sec...

Re: Lua lobby?

I have heard twitter has a phone number you can call to ask them to open a tcp connection to your box if you were smart enough to implement an RSS client using a listening socket. Or just use carrier pigeons like you said, but be sure to support RFC2549 and ensure they can haz a cheezeburger on long...

Re: Lua lobby?

yes its more "stifling" and thats the point. It stifles criticisms about security by stifling attack potential of unrestricted connect. I call it pragmatism... But when you have solved your web-of-trust problem or whitelisting mechanism, feel free to uncomment REGISTER_LUA_CFUNC(Connect), ...

Re: Lua lobby?

@andrej

your ISP isnt involved in communication between your lobby and your spring instance running on the same machine.

its also not involved if you want to use your tablet as a control device for spring, provided your tablet is connected to your lan.

Re: Lua lobby?

What about providing tcp sockets, but only listen/accept and no connect? (Why) do all of you assume spring should be the client? Just turn it the other way around: get your lobby (or voicerecognition- or touchscreen-gateway, whatever...) to connect to spring (or more specifically, to your lua widget...
