Re: Wikileaks

Could you clarify that? I'm not sure what you mean there. Preferably without the insults.

Re: Wikileaks

There are no names or specific information. US agencies themselves concluded it does not put any personnel at risk. Don't buy that line of garbage. The only reason they're saying that is because WikiLeaks and the media outlets they've released to (including Al-Jazeera ) have been pretty cooperative...

Re: Wikileaks

American diplomats speak about EU leaders in terms of "Teflon Merkel," "authoritarian Sarkozy" and a "feckless, vain and ineffective Berlusconi" who is a "mouthpiece" for Russia, a first batch of secret cables sent to and from US embassies abroad and publishe...

Re: QA. A Rant.

Still working on the ground FX issue. It's a puzzler, largely because I'm trying to avoid reinventing the current wheel, which, after reading, is not a very good design at all. The current Spring code is really un-optimal; it's not even bothering with a frustrum or nearness check for whether to crea...

Re: QA. A Rant.

Getting closer with the basic demo: http://www.wolfegames.com/TA_Section/maprendertest03.jpg The fake-volumetric smoke isn't perfect, but what the hell, it's that, about 64K POPS snowflakes, volume fog, etc., and as you can see, I got translucency working well again. Still not happy with this, but I...

Re: QA. A Rant.

Well you're certainly welcome to put it all in a repo if you want.

Anyways, got mobo Friday, installed it last night, will be able to post it tonight, I think.

Re: Marketing Plan Plan

Don't worry about qualifications, darnit. If you've read 15 articles about 'net marketing, guerrilla marketing concepts and (preferably) have tuned in to the available talks / docs about the specific issues indie titles face (if you want a reading list, I *think* I still have some of that bookmarked...

Re: real random vs pseudorandom

In regards to randomseed, yeah, I think it would be good to see a test- IIRC, I had weird issues with it, the one and only time I used it (for my music widget).

Re: QA. A Rant.

Eh, this is the first time I've lost the dev box, other than taking it down for upgrades, AF. This is mainly inconvenient because of timing. And if the code was on github, I'd still be stuck with a netbook that can't even run Spring, anyhow. I'm pretty confident that the data is fine. If I ever run ...

Re: real random vs pseudorandom

Well, yes, but not in the context of Spring synced. I presume that's why randomseed isn't allowed, either, but IDK. Anyhow, couple of things: 1. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/461978/why-is-the-first-random-number-always-the-same-on-some-platforms-in-lua 2. Since this effects the first number, j...

Re: QA. A Rant.

Don't worry, I fully intend for it to be in public asap, AF. It's like POPS- it needs testing and I think it's important that everybody can verify the accuracy of my findings and see that it is what I said it was. Unfortunately, there is nothing practical I can do until the mobo arrives :| The code'...

Re: The wiki creates a partial vacuum. Fix plox?

Screw it. If somebody has time to clean / edit and stick in Wiki, here we go: Structure of Spring Game Text Data Games built for Spring have a number of specific data formats, largely inherited from the TDF/FBI text format, but with considerable changes and improvements to the engine, which has resu...

Glad you liked the P.E.N.G.U.I.N., personally I think Scud Hunt would be quite fun and have repeat value, ala the wonderful mini-games of Plants vs. Zombies et al.

I like this idea, but I think that we really need a doc explaining the basic terminology, so that people understand what "weaponDef" means, etc.

Re: Development virtual machine

I agree with the above. The last time I bothered with setting up a development environment, it took 4 days and lots of Q&A here, and I didn't want to do anything serious except for write a simple patch :P So 4 days, had to keep SVN running in the background, etc., huge wait for initial update fr...

Re: QA. A Rant.

You aren't seeing a megatexture there, and it doesn't operate anything like SM3.

It's really annoying that I was almost ready to show it and I not only ended up dealing with a bunch of RL crap but my damn mobo died last Thursday- I was hoping to present this on Monday :P

Re: Marketing Plan Plan

Still mobo-less, so I've missed most of this, and please forgive minor typos, I'm on an Acer netbook with a terrible keyboard atm. Mobo *may* arrive tomorrow, according to our wonderful postal service (last time I take free shipping, ever). 1. Yo, Sinbad, KP meets your requirements. If you weren't b...
