no, the probability of it hitting earth is extremely slim to zero, it knows where it is in relation to it's proper orbit and corrects with thrusters, it's not like it's losing several meters a day or anything, on a tiny, tiny bit. Just enough that it needs to correct itself occasionally. At the mome...

actually dentrifugal force doesn't really exist, it's the equal-and-opposite reactionary force to centripetal force, which is pulling it in (or so I understand), thus keeping the water in it's original place in the bottom of the bucket. The fact that you're not letting go of the bucket causes the bo...

a lightbulb-year is simply a measure of energy, the amount of energy used by a 100W lightbulb in one year: 100*60*60*24*365.25 = 3,155,760,000 J Like a lightyear is a measure of length based on how far light can travel in a year. all four of those units mentioned above (J, M, lightbulb-years and lig...

depends on where from - the thing that stops a gun from working (mostly) is the air resistance on the way up reduces the velocity of the shell significantly - if you could make an explosive reaction work in a vacuum it might work (a big gun would probably work on the moon for instance, although that...

Can't you already make this using photoshop, the texture of the ground, one texture with the same size of metal, and making an alpha mask with the metalmap in greyscale? yes, I suppose you could, but it'd be a bit of a pain to position it perfectly on yuor texture map. Instead you just make the lar...

some new ideas: 1) big metal pieces which get put 'under' a map's texture then a shape is cleared from the texture revealing the metal underneath (like seeing a treasure chest under some sand) meaning that metal maps can then be interpreted by a map editor to remove more ground texture (revealing me...

well, it started well, but by lvl 6 it degenerated into ever deeper levels of ridiculousness in an attempt to kill me (multiple things, firing multiple missiles on multiple, changing trajectories) There's only so far skill can take you and after that it's a game of luck. As long as there are readily available (free) programs to convert .mp3 and .wav to .ogg, http://www.quinnware.com/ you'll need a plugin for ogg encoding but it'll convert many audio formats (not sure about DRM'ed WMA's, but definately un-DRM'ed ones). the present version is a bit clunky though. I c...

just another targetting request, can we have a button to stop something from targetting air. I use the NaGa and HyDrA heavy cannons (being as how they're such great units and all), I tend to put them into high trajectory mode to fire over things and drop shells. (I'm playing random enemies here, a c...

keeping in theme with the GPL-ness of spring, I propose the use of .ogg (MP3 and WMA still being patented). FLAC could be an option, but AFAIK it's even less well known than ogg. The free formats (FLAC and ogg) are being actively squeezed out by the big players (WMP doesn't play .ogg, for instance) ...
