Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
I'm still here, I'm just trying to work part time and study full time as well as settle into a new city. Not easy (its been 6 weeks and I'm still on an inflatable mattress...) Haven't forgotten about IW either - I still manage to pop my head into the IW IRC channel most days

Cough
The aging thing does bother me a bit, a couple of years ago IW was looking (in my opinion) better than some other professionally produced RTS games on the market, especially the Star Wars ones.

Re: TAUniverse 'Old Guard'
Kinda... I'm studying fine woodworking/furniture design. Got sick of sitting behind a computer staring at CAD all day long. Will probably go back to architecture but take a more hands-on approach.

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
Anyone who's got some previous work to show me (ie: can do what they say) and is offering help can have access to the repository. As discussed earlier in this thread, the beta if released now wouldn't really be a beta, it'd be more of a demo. If I can get IW into a workable state I'd release it as a...

Re: Random WIP
Yeah, I'd always wanted to do one, it'd just be a huge amount of work for a gimmicky map. Especially once I saw agorm's tree map and realised you could have huge building features like that, as well as the 'void' floating island type maps. I'd do it as something like the old 'over crude water' style...

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
We have had a couple of beginners offer help. Basically, we'd love to bring you aboard - but you're going to have to be responsible for your own learning. We can point you in the right direction and give you some tips, but generally given the amount of work remaining it would be quicker to just do t...

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Re: Random WIP
Yeah, sketchup was designed with making 3D design highly accessible through an extremely simple interface. For sketch design in architecture, it is excellent, especially for people who don't have a lot of digital training. Using it for constructing computer game geometry is like using lego to build ...

Re: New laptop
Yeah, I had the xps m1330 as my last one It lasted about 2.5-3 years, had a few problems but was generally ok. Was nice and portable but considering the amount of time I spent staring at it, I should've opted for a bigger screen, which I will this time around. I don't know if I loved it enough that ...
