EvOTA

News: April 30: The new update contains the first two metal maps that were released last night. As you can see, the size of the package is snowballing rapidly, mostly due to the maps (actually mostlye due to Redfish). Now that the package has a fair amount of content, I want to space the releases o...

Dude, KBots and tanks do not strafe. The only units that can strafe are the gunships.

I don't know that it's going to work the way you think it will though - because the torso of the unit you're controlling doesn't necessarily face the same direction as you are. You can rotate your view faster than the turret turns. Still, it could be useful, because then it would be easier to tell w...

Good point - lots of things to consider. There's no point in selecting the person with the minimum maximum latency if that person is on a 56k modem. :-)

I bounced the concept off JouninKomiko, and he said that it "probably wouldn't work for spring". I didn't ask why, but he's a busy guy. ;)

Community building exercise: Post your favorite HHGTTG quote

Seeing as the movie opens tonight... Human beings are great adaptors, and by lunchtime life in the environs of Arthur's house had settled into a steady routine. It was Arthur's accepted role to lie squelching in the mud making occasional demands to see his lawyer, his mother or a good book; it was M...

Ok, here's my concept visually: http://webbie.cyberica.ca/images/lag_graph.gif I revised the initial idea so that a black node represents a non-host, and then the color of the node can represent the amount of bandwidth available to that potential host (and hence one of the two factors in selecting t...

I'd argue the fact that units are never used in OTA. Most people will use the same set of units game after game - this can make building some of the other units a surprise for your enemy. I think OTA is great as is. Besides, some of the units in XTA are just rediculous, such as the goliath. Building...

I'd like to put a vote in for the 'no force start function'. There's no point having a ready button if the host can start the game whether you have it ticked or not. What's the solution? I dunno, a really loud .wav of a bell/claxton that the host can play on the machine of the only person not to ha...

Actually, last night while I was on crack... yeah anyways, I had a good idea for the hosting process for later down the road. What would happen is in the configuration, either people would manually enter their maximum throughput, or there would be a system to test it and enter it for them. Anyways, ...

Very nice, but before you go too far, I shold point out that currently there's apparently an engine limitation at the moment in that all textures must be stored in a temporary 2048x2048 image. However, if you want to go to the art forum there's a unit remodeling project going on, and i'm sure you ca...

Ok, it's not quite as long as I remember it (at the time I was playing at 800x600, so it seemed massive). Still impressive though. It's actually called the Yamato: http://webbie.cyberica.ca/images/yamato_thumb.jpg Onboard Annihilator laser, krogoth rockets, aircraft repair pad, radar, and I couldn't...

Actually, I think the TA ready system is great. Then you don't get ridiculous situations like in custom games of Warcraft III where people join and then the host jump starts because he doesn't want people to leave, and then people either quit in the next two seconds, or alt-f4 during the load proces...

Could the metal and energy bars possibly be made less intrusive? Maybe what I described could even be put in the botto...

The first error message is completely unreleated to Spring. Last I heard, Wildtangent was making visualizers for Winamp. As for the last error message, you can't use the lobby without the Microsoft .NET framework v1.1 (like it says). I'm not sure if you can get it for Windows 98. With windows XP it'...
