Re: new ubuntu (11.10) - sync errors

Which actually brings up a point, I like Ubuntu but I have been considering dropping it because all the cool linux people use other distros. Should I try for something more hardcore like Arch? (Command line doesn't scare me) Or is this a problem likely to be found in most recent distro releases? I ...

Re: Where is the spring lobby username and password stored?

I dont think you can figure out the password because its stored after being md5 hashed (at least for springlobby). On linux you can find the password hash in ~/.springlobby.conf, on Windows i guess the filename is springlobby.conf but i dont know where it is. You could try to use an online md5 decod...

Re: Spring Lobby crashes

I started to locate this bug once but gave up pretty quick because this one is a bit tricky i think, its not a crash instead the graphics does not render properly and the amount of code was a bit overwhelming and i have not used wxwidgets much. In the bug report i asked devs to reproduce the problem...

Re: Spring Lobby crashes

As i wrote in the ticket i tested without DM (only xterm in .xinitrc) and it is bugged then too.
Reverting to wxgtk 2.8.10 works for me. Do that until devs sort this out.

Re: ROAM terrain rendering, help us make spring much faster!

I think you said you would have a branch on the spring repository server, is that correct ?
If and when that branch is available can you inform us here ?

Re: ROAM terrain rendering, help us make spring much faster!

That sounds good (if ur roam algo reduces cpu usage compared to the current algo). Quick explanation of what i did: I made a terrain demo some time ago, it was good for rendering terrain with very long view distance with low cpu usage (which was my goal). I used a quad tree and made geo-morphing to ...

Re: ROAM terrain rendering, help us make spring much faster!

Beherith,
I am curious about the CPU usage u get when doing ROAM, can u give som figures ?
The reason i ask is because i beleive the ROAM algorithm uses a fair amount CPU compared to a geo-morphed quad-tree approach where most of the work is done by GPU.

Jammer,
I think you have a valid point and i cant see anything in your posts that would upset a springlobby dev, just good constructive feedback.

Re: games with less players vs games with a lot of players

I think spring would be more popular if servers had a lower limit, i think 4v4 is enough.

What is this alerter ? I cant find any such function in springlobby.

Re: Release: Quickmatching System

I think it is enough to have the lobby inform the player that a game is getting filled up so the player can consider to join the game. I think auto-join like this will just mess things up. And i still hope most server owners will lower the max player limit to 8 :) .. 4v4 should be good for game coun...

Re: Release: Quickmatching System

A bit off topic but i want this off my heart:
I think spring would be more popular and have more fun games if servers were setup with max 4v4 players, that way we would get more healthy games and less waiting. I think all 6v6+ games are ruining the spring experience.

Re: New project

my 2 cents: Before moving to Spring i played a lot of SupCom:FA (i was not a high skill player though) and i must say that when games were balanced (skill) those games were a lot more fun and interesting to play than BA. I am not exacly sure why it made games more fun but i think the 4v4 in SupCom m...
