Re: uberserver on lan. Unable to create a battleroom
Weblobby doesn't currently support direct hosting (that tab is disabled). Like Zklobby it uses springie autohosts which are only available on the official server. Use Springlobby to host a game on your lan.

Spawn a springie and tell it to host whichever version of spring you want. It takes all of two seconds.

Filling the gap with a vertical wall doesn't make it look any more real. In fact I think it's worse because the water is now glaringly split at that point (bumpwater setting of course).smoth wrote:next engine version ought to resolve that though.

Re: Older games / mods that don't like the latest spring?
Never mind older/abandoned games, Zero-K is the most popular game on Spring and people are still playing it in engine version 91.0 in some autohosts.

Re: Detect if cheats are on
This sounds like a valid feature request. Perhaps if nothing comes of it, you can solve it on the autohost layer by disallowing cheating unless the user enables an option. If the option is enabled, the replay is not uploaded. It's not a perfect solution, but probably less stressful than dealing with...

I apologize, I didn't notice the date. Damn rez threads. Wait, you rezzed it!
But still to be clear, ZK/CA has been using the term for at least 4 years.

Re: BOTA Relaunch - Is there interest?
Yes, XTA is quite similar to OTA, but still not. Biggest difference IMO is the xta has flat tech tree (in the sense that t1 kbots can make t2 veh lab etc). I almost feel like you're trolling, Jools, after spending so much time in this thread discussing the widely used ZK term flat balance which is ...

Re: Banning bot ads on #main and #newbies
Promote is one thing, but the other day I was complaining that there was some bot that was announcing in #main that it was shutting down, launching game, shutting down, launching game. Really, why does anyone need to know that?

klapmongool, I was showing off that weblobby has the functionality to control SPADS (and Springie) mod options with a dialog. The benefit of which is you don't have to search or memorize commands in the !help nor enter them on the command line.

Re: What is "flat balance?"
If you simply mean the hierarchy of the tech tree, then it's better to use standard concepts such as matrix or hierachical trees/organisations. When we come up with concepts we don't always spend a lot of time thinking of fancy names and instead focus on the meaning. When Saktoth described no more ...

This version is a bit deprecated by a couple of months but you can use weblobby by going to http://weblobby.springrts.com if you don't mind setting up java (I use it on my macbook).
