Re: Construction Valid Ground Slopes
the algorithm is very complex and may change in the future, e.g. by giving lua control over the return value. i strongly advise against reimplementing it yourself. the only suggestion i have is to make a wrapper returning a future/deferred value and work around the problem. if you want a go at appro...

Re: Author Spring RTS Book-Packt Publishing
the forums were made private precisely to avoid the flamewar that's going on here. i'm pretty sure everybody understands there isn't any big money to be made making this book. as such, the only question left is if there's anybody who has the time, skills and wants to help spring for a modest sum.

Re: Author Spring RTS Book-Packt Publishing
it's not a bot. we have been contacted by packt but couldn't really figure out how to respond; we've been discussing this proposal in quite some detail in private.
i suggest keeping this thread civil.

Re: McGuireAI (Threaded Lua AI Experiment)
the architecture sounds very nice. your "masters" are what other AI people usually call planners, and i'd suggest implementing vertical planners - on group and unit level - so your master planner can think about what and lower level planners get to think about how.

you may need to wait for 10.3 official ATI mobility driver update, due this month. Otherwise, see ATI faq in this forum.

update gfx drivers, reset settings to lowest and try to set cpu affinity for spring to only one core. if it doesn't help, post infolog.

Re: still problems with amd 5xxx-series?
bump water with shorewaves works fine, as of 10.2. what still doesn't work is texture alpha on on feature shadows - it works as if the alpha channel had 0% transparency during shadow drawing. i can't think of anything else that comes to mind immediately. 10.2 drivers are a great step forward for AMD.

reflective water should be fixed as of 10.2 catalysts or spring 0.81.2.

sometimes. ai wisdom 4 has an article about risk-adverse pathfinding, but it's not rocket science - just a simple modification of the edge weight function.

metal is best placed with springmapedit. you can use it to place features, too, or you may try worldbuilder.

Re: still problems with amd 5xxx-series?
there are some, but hopefully none that crash the game; 10.2 drivers and spring 0.81.2 is a happy combination, at least for me.
