Re: Noob help with lua ai
There is callin:UnitIdle() --> http://springrts.com/wiki/LuaCallinReturn#Unit-Specific: Guess that is supposed to find idle units. Though when I tried to use it I was not sure what it considers "idle." The calling is not really applicable, because I need the AI to also detect idle units w...

Re: Noob help with lua ai
If you put the library in the root of the project... Puting savetable.lua in the root worked. But I noticed adding files requires a restart of Spring, rather than just /luarules reload. I ended up using the vardump method found here: http://www.lua.org/gems/vardump.lua Works like a treat. The tail ...

Re: Noob help with lua ai
Ok, so I tried using gajop's library, but I can't figure out how to include it. I tried all of: VFS.Include("luarules/bai/savetable.lua"); VFS.Include("bai/savetable.lua"); VFS.Include("LuaRules/bai/savetable.lua"); include("luarules/bai/savetable.lua"); inclu...

Re: Noob help with lua ai
Thanks for the help, a few more questions:
Is there a call in when /luarules reload is run?
And is it possible to load lua libraries (like pl.pretty.dump)? Or is there a good way to dump debug information?

Noob help with lua ai
So I'm looking at trying to reimplement BAI into lua. Java I have no problem with, but lua is a bit of a learning curve for me. A few questions to get me started: In the lua ai tutorial/wiki it gives this snippet: function gadget:GameStart() for _,t in ipairs(Spring.GetTeamList()) do local _,_,_,isA...

Firstly, how would an AI identify a tactic, and secondly how would they reproduce it?NeonStorm wrote:It could also copy tactics from players based on success rate.
Of course a genetic algorithm work for this but it would be far too hard to train to the point of it actually being good.

Re: AI Design Idea
Hi, I am glad you shared this, as I find it quite an interesting topic. Metal and energy are mod specific, so to be a fully config based AI, it needs not have specific resource managers but a global "ResourceManager" that handles all resources for the mod. That being said, I would personal...

Re: AI Factory
I do understand the concept of OSGi and use it (as a user, not a developer) through the Netbeans Platform.
But how does this fit with the engine/C++ side of things, and where does the main issue reside?
Is it on the engine side, or the Java side (or even a bit of both)?

Re: Spring developer crisis
Also I did even ask how I could help fixing the bug, and all I received was no response until I probed it again and got told "Do it yourself is the best option" And by that you mean how you could have other people fix it for you! Look, if you ever wanted to actually do it, I could point o...

Re: Spring developer crisis
I think one of the problems is that lack of GUI helper tools. Yes there are some but they are painful to use, and break every few engine upgrades. I was an AI developer, and would still like to be apart from the obvious annoying bug that prevents my AI from working correctly. I have also built mod e...
