A far out thought, but the guy can upgrade to a better, free OS where Spring works (Xubuntu, Fluxbuntu, or any other user-friendly linux will work).
And start searching on the net for the dll meanwhile.

Re: CA X BA discussion
This will require however that all people who support CA only play on those autohosts for a bit - so that the movement doesn't choke early on. (love the quotes button!) PS. Both autohosts are taken atm. If I wanted to start a game with players around my level, I couldn't (I can't host). There is a ...

Re: CA X BA discussion
vadi CA has enuff hosts/autohosts Will you please quit repeating that? Why, why, why are you saying there are enough when there are like 5, and 2 of them free, when there are 3x more BA ones? That's OK, you completely missed my point, and I don't feel you'll get it either. It has to do with marketi...

Is he suggesting Spring should be made for 360?
Anyone wanna look up the licensing costs on that?

Re: CA X BA discussion
I concur you on the players choosing BA over CA. If you make as many, or more, CA autohosts, you'll a) see the number of newbies joining those games drastically go up, b) eventually see more usual players coming over. This will require however that all people who support CA only play on those autoho...

Poor guy
Not everybody is limited to Win XP and it's license though. I can use my OS on as many cores, and computers, as I want

Re: Spring is running in SMP
Are you dipping below 30 FPS with your CPU% in game well in excess of 50% and playing at normal game speed? I'm not against optimizations, but I am against the whole ZOMG DUAL CORE SPRING WILL BE 2X FAST LOL mentality, particularly when everyone would benefit from GPU optimizations, if they can be ...

Re: Spring is running in SMP
Well I think ANYONE with a dual core is not CPU limited atm, so my point stands. I disagree. Have you talked to many other people on dualcores? Have numbers? I'm on a 1.5ghz CPU, letting Spring run at 3ghz instead of 1.5ghz would be a huge improvement or me. (I do have a geforce 8600, 512ram - wasn...

Re: UnitSelection showing a little Holo for Size comparison
I actually took those humanoid raider bots in CA as the size of an average human... only because they make it look like to. But they also make the rest of the weaponry look very small

Give SpringLobby a try? (if you aren't on it already)
http://trac.springlobby.info/
Btw, give other mods a try too. They go as far as even having different graphcis/effects, not just units/balancing.

Re: Spring is running in SMP
I think it's just shadows. I tried with reflections on / shadows off, and it was only like 5%
That's not bad though - remember it's a %. At the start, there isn't a lot of unit logic and etc being done, just the map & landscape.

Re: Spring is running in SMP
Are there any numbers on how much does AI and display actually take up ough? Using 'b', it looks like AI takes up almost nothing, while display quite a bit (up to 50% at times). I was told that's not overly accurate though - so anyone have a better measure?

Well, get it working, and then see into it yourself - I think since you have experience in that community already, you'd be the best one to start such a thing.
