Re: Random WIP
Why redo the Windgen? Cremuss did finish that quite a while ago... You also might want to get his models as quite a lot of things like the metal extractor are finished in terms of modelling and often even UV-mapping and just sit there waiting for a texture... Just go here to get all the stuff he mad...

Re: The economics of Spring mod users
We can calm ourselves by saying Atari si unlikely to ever move on this, because we're already here, we're in neck high. Who is this "we" you're talking about? That attitude might fight to one half of the gamers or maybe more who just don't care. The rest owns TA and thus has the right to ...

Re: The economics of Spring mod users
Download speeds are already slow as it is, adding more leechers to the system with no seeding in the new people is not a peachy idea I thought it now was developed to grab its stuff from sites like Jobjol too - download speeds wouldn't be that much of an issue then anymore... EDIT: Another newbie t...

Re: The economics of Spring mod users
We might just need a mixture of steam and e.g. the system Supreme Commander uses combined with a lobby (or at least an option to start the lobby from there) - so the idea of taking SpringDownloader one step ahead isn't so bad... I imagine something like a browser (and so what TASClient included migh...

Re: Spring Mod Maker
This sure is an interesting project! I might give it a try later. In general it would be nice to have sort of an editor which features all the tags you can assign so you don't miss new stuff you didn't realize was integrated or can delete tags the engine doesn't use anymore...

Re: The economics of Spring mod users
In my opinion there are 5 major points of why Spring isn't more popular: 1.) Graphics 2.) It's an RTS engine 3.) "No one" knows about it 4.) The games / mods available 5.) We have few players 1.) Graphics This probably scares away the group which would have the most time to actually play: ...

Re: Dragonball Evolution = Win
Anyone still cared after the first trailer appeared? I never thought this would be a good idea in general but some cool Kamehameha CGs would be worth watching it when it gets aired on TV. But turning it into this High-School Kung-Fu & Guns bullshit which merely has any connection to Dragonball d...

Re: Quanto's 3rd Attempt at Unit Modeling.
Silo huh? Did you buy it? Free version doesn't allow exporting to .obj when tricount is above some number. The cool thing about it is that it's an active developed piece of software with a nice price (although it got a bit more expensive since they introduced the 2 versions of it) that focuses just...

Re: Quanto's 3rd Attempt at Unit Modeling.
The problem is, my modeling software (silo) doesn't have a particularly awesome UV Unwrapper and I was wondering if one of those third party ones would do a good job with this? What don't you like about Silo's UV-tools? I think they are excellent (although certainly some additional minor detail fea...

Re: Springlobby is awesome
Yeah I also get that error spawning rarely on XP 32Bit. Only happens though when closing it - especially while it's trying to update (there really should be an "Updating" window just like for map caching as just the app looking like it's idling isn't the best solution)...

Re: Spring 0.79 is out (partially)
I have a problem with CEG spawning. While in an earlier release certain effects didn't show up I now have "flickering" CEGs. It's the case for those animated bitmap effects you (e.g. try NOTA and give a cortoast to see one of those which flicker). Flickering means that one frame is shown, ...

I'd say it's pretty good although I totally dislike those four cylinders which pop up and your "bevel" between the top surface faces on the left and right connecting towards those edge parts look weird from certain angles: http://www.abload.de/img/strangelook9fgk.jpg That small gap makes i...

Re: Max Annihilation and NOTA
NOTA most certainly is the most unique one of the two and kinda makes a total different approach towards TA. With that said the gameplay is quite different. First of all you don't start with a commander but with a Central Command Building with high build radius. The gameplay itself then is more &quo...
