Re: [misc] upgrading to phpbb 3.3.1 aka the upgrade hell
Its really difficult to do such huge changes with the few time i have. I want to do stuff, not to write about stuff i maybe will do. I'm thinking of something simple like "Sometime in the next month, I'm hoping to run an upgrade. If the server goes down, it's probably that. It should be up wit...

Re: Github owner status needed to change BA team and logo
Bluestone has removed all obstacles to progress, except maybe just the repository icon. But that's ok, that's not super important. He's also provided you with a path forward towards developing the trustworthiness required for him to be o.k. with giving you the repository. The more you resist, the le...

Re: [misc] upgrading to phpbb 3.3.1 aka the upgrade hell
Hey, thanks for the upgrade but also it would be really nice if we have warning for things like this. ATM, suddenly something breaks, then we all try to work out how to fix it, until it comes back online and "Btw that was all planned, you can stop panicking now". TLDR; please give us at le...

Re: owner status needed to change BA team and logo
Not saying that MasterBel didn't do a lot of work - he did! Yeah, it was 2 painful days of trying to interpret code I'm not super familiar with. But I'll reiterate here to make it clear, I did not write any of this code – I just made sure the changes were present on GitHub. I'll also go on record s...

PR-Downloader downloads windows version of engine on linux
This has happened to me + one other at this point. The files on the server are correct, it just seems to be downloading the wrong package. I suspect the issue is at a SpringFiles level but it could very well be at a PR-Downloader level.
I used SpringLobby 0.267 on Ubuntu.

Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone
@ Ares, Bluestone is being reasonable. I suggest you work with him instead of continuing to fight against him. Also @ Ares: please don't conflate your wishes with the wishes of the BA community. Represent yourself, and avoid using other people who (mostly) couldn't care less as scapegoats. @ Bluesto...

Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone
So this is a FUD campaign by Ares... taking a page from Trumps book. Is there going to be an election? Ares - do you have Twitter? Maybe you could start collecting followers there. All the populists do it. Neither truth nor competence is a precursor for Twitter use. That would free my RSS feed from...

Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone
For completeness: I have made no promises in this regard, and I am not actively working towards either.BA will never run on 104 since Bel is focusing on 105 now and 105 is years away.

Re: Metal Makers Continuously Switching ON/OFF Bug
In Balanced Annihilation there is a widget that automatically turns metal makers on/off depending on whether you have enough energy to convert. I don't know what it's called or if XTA has this widget, but it might be worth checking for. I don't personally know anything about unit scripts, so I can't...

Hosting replays
While continuing to chew on some things that totally don't affect the work required to do this I've been experimenting with a number of things. And I come to battle hosting. Hosting in the capacity that SpringLobby does seems simple and well documented enough on its own, but there's the idea of host...

Git can also be managed on the command line, or even an app with GUI. There are great tutorials all over the place including GitHub.com. Shouldn't be too hard to learn. :)

Re: The end of the maintenance branch -- "BA" questions
IMHO forcing 104.0 for large games had a small benefit over not doing it: because of doing it A LOT of stuff improved on uberserver i.e.. Improvements re: moderation? In which case… functionally what you did is banned an entire community because of the troublemakers in it. Worth it? You think so. H...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch -- "BA" questions
also, 103.0 isn't banned on the official server, its just banned for large games. I could write an essay about this, but I'll put it simply. Ignore the misinformation and the people trying to guilt-trip you over things you didn't do. Just look at it pragmatically for one second, go back to your ori...

Re: Can we please simplify the protocol
Potentially all of SL, Chobby, SPADS, SLDB, Maddox's autohosts, theIRC bridge, the matrix bridge, and Notalobby suffer fully breaking changes here, so you're looking at a potentially huge amount of favours/PRs. Good point. Thanks for the heads up. it would move lots of "if" statements fro...

Re: Can we please simplify the protocol
the main issue i guess is, that lobby server and lobby client development doesn't happen in sync. if you really want to improve stuff i guess you have to start client and server development. I still can't get SpringLobby compiling on my machine. Setting up WxWidgets stuff is permanently a pain. (It...

Re: Which TA-derived games work singleplayer
Spring circa 2020 "Lobby sucks; solution new lobby!" This is a symptom of a greater problem: this community really doesn't know how to work collaboratively. The discussion here between FLOZi and AF is a good example of that. I mean, even just that no one actually tried to hep solve mycale...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
I get 9 fps zooming in on a tree in BAR Very sure Ivand would love to hear details about this so he can do something to fix it. Also I (and other Mac people) would be very happy if the transition took us through an OpenGL core profile <= 4.1 (And stayed there? ) Again many thanks for all the...
