Here is a National Geographic slideshow about a massive cave in Vietnam. Some of the forest pictures might be great inspiration, and the pictures don't cease to give me the chills.

Re: Random wip 2012+
@smoth: If you plan your uvmap right, AO takes ~15 minutes. What do you mean with "plan your UV map right"? I don't see how that involves special planning. If you got issues with mirrored parts putting different data on the UV map then just cut the UV coords from one half of the model whe...

Zero K Lobby offers to set graphics settings to low if it detects a crash. Maybe other lobbies can do this as well?

Re: Random wip 2012+
@smoth: If you plan your uvmap right, AO takes ~15 minutes. Time cost is pretty low, even if it makes little difference from very far out. AO + solid colors also makes a great quick base for a texture. When I was texturing planes for that WP7 thing God was doing, that's what I used. @benz: Consider ...

There was a minutes post or two about it.
I think http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=26893 may have been it.

Make sure your UVmap doesn't have different overlapping parts, though, because otherwise, you're going to have some weird results.

The new series of images is plain awesome. The subtle vignetting effect actually adds a lot to the images here. Numbers one through four are just sublime.

Re: BAR Banners
ACTUALLY IGNORE THE LAST PART OF MY LAST POST.
I took another look at the image, and the real thing that bothers me isn't that the colors pop, but that the units look out of place W.R.T. the background. It might just be a personal thing, but they kind of look pasted-on.

Re: BAR Banners
I rather like when banners focus on 1 unit. Seems too busy with more than 1 thing. Yeah, this. That, or group a bunch of similar units together, like the SWIW trooper/spider banners or the GRTS banner. Also, you may want to try messing with the brightness and saturation so that the transition from ...

Re: BAR Banners
I like banner 1, but I feel like the red blends in a little too well with the background. Also, the orange thing looks a little out of place. Banner 2 is cool, but there's no real "focus" -- not sure if that's the right way to put it, but it feels a little disorienting to me. That said, I ...

I dunno -- either way, though, your stuff is incredibly sexy. The UE3 renderer doesn't hurt at all, either.

Well, it's why Orange isn't done yet. I thought I was making a fun little 2D game, and now I've got visions of Unity and distance field-based graphics and it's unlikely it'll be done anytime in the next year.smoth wrote:speak from your own experience.
