Re: Things to do BEFORE advertise.
I blame shitty playerbase. Get that fixed, then advertise I gotta say you're half right, Spring has WAY too much drama for its relatively small size. It's like some sort of bizarre transatlantic soap opera some days. I think "tragicomic" is the best term to describe it, I certainly laugh ...

Re: Things to do BEFORE advertise.
I hate to keep beating this dead horse, but if you took AA 2.11 from three and a half years ago and compared it to BA 7.10, how many user facing changes would people notice? Sure, LUPS and Lua UI and just Lua in general have done a lot. However, there's been about a million back end changes that rea...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V7.1
Wow, the Croc and Panther probably just became the T2 Flash and Instigator. I'm liking those Punisher / Guardian changes. Maybe it will actually be viable to use one to blow up someone's defenses then reclaim it. Pretty mind-blowing how many units didn't have a dedicated air sight distance, especial...

Re: Wikipedia
I think it would be pretty easy to beat this just by having a few people showing up and saying "Are you serious, this game has 200+ players every night?" I also don't think any people who post here or develop anything for Spring are neutral enough under their rules to edit Spring's page, b...

Re: Metal Makers
I think you'll find that Dgun is uber1337hax. Yeah it can be pretty handy, but it is essentially a one time use thing since the commander tends to die when using it against a big group or a T3 unit with a large explosion. Having a T2 construction upgrade and some other economy / building upgrades w...

Is it possible to make the FPS management script change out the nano effect for lower end computers? I know the particle system is a giant CPU eater, and if the nano laser or cloud is better I think players should be forced into it when they lag the entire game.

Re: Metal Makers
Two solutions: 1. People should stop cramming 8 players on a map like DSD where there's not enough space to run offensive attacks. There's a reason IceXuick made Delta Siege Duo and Rev, and people should play the dry equivalents. 2. Take a page from Supreme Commander and put in commander upgrades, ...

Re: Google Summer of Code 2010
Short history to catch everyone up with GSoC and Spring. (I assume almost everyone knows, but I bet there's one or two newbies reading this.) It has been tried two or three times. The first time or two times were pretty half hearted attempts that basically boiled down to "We really should do th...

Re: Please disallow political discussion on this site.
This is Spring, people are going to find a way to start drama over nothing. I doubt banning political discussion is going to help at all.

Why not just change it's mouseover description to say "Static siege artillery and shore battery"?

Re: Balanced Annihilation V7.04
thats pretty trivial thing to do, also suggested by me (years ago!) to implement straight in the lobby, so you could disable/enable groups of units by clicking some buttons (like "no air" etc.), so it would add those units in the disabled units list, so it wont need any changes in the pro...

Re: Spring Teamspeak server replaced with Mumble
The TeamSpeak 3 Beta was released on December 19th 2009. That's not even 8 days, forget about 2 years. I mean it has been on version 2 promising version 3 for YEARS now, since 2004 at least: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=newsarchive&ident=20040310 The first uses of version 3 were July 2008 eve...

Re: Spring Teamspeak server replaced with Mumble
Replaced with Mumble, just in time to be made obsolete by... Teamspeak. Epic. Mumble is way better than Teamspeak or Ventrilo. Use Mumble 1.2.0 for a week and you'll never want to switch to anything else. Teamspeak and Ventrilo have both had their respective "version 3" under development ...

Re: New server
And there's nothing stopping lobby clients implementing SHA-2 as an option, then switch over with an additional protocol command to force a new password on logon. Force password change needs to be added to the lobby anyway in case password expiration is ever added to a server. I personally think ma...

Re: New server
How securely are our passwords stored exactly? There's been a lot of advances in hash reversal lately, how do we store/generate our password hashes?
