Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
First of all, there needs to be a LOT more development not only to Spring but to PURE as well. Then it has to be marketed, which goes back to the problem of getting money. Where would it come from? Who would invest in a project by a bunch of unheard of developers working on an indie game? If there ...

Re: CA - Community Annihilation :P
I am against the idea of constraining the developers by the players whims. This is especially true considering that they are dealing with a tiny player base compared to what they could have in the future, and that the current players are probably skewed towards views that may not represent those of ...

Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
@ Hobo Joe The Spring engine is open source, but there are routes for developers to commercialise content produced on an open source engine. No one would want Spring itself as an OEM, but they might be interested in something along the lines of PURE. Likewise for mobile games, if someone decided to ...

Well bust my buffers!

Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
I'm still not exactly sure where you would seek funding from. Are there research or arts councils interested in game development? Or are you actually talking about commercialisation involving venture capitalists? I can't really imagine any Spring project needing enough money to involve serious inves...

Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
Names almost certainly are important. Arguing in court that a remodel is sufficiently different from prior art to be considered novel IP would be a lot easier if it wasn't called a peewee.

Do you know of any funding bodies to whom Spring might be well positioned to submit an application, nxain?

Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
My feeling is that most of the core multi-developer teams here (s44, SWIW, PURE, CA... hope I haven't missed anyone) have different goals and would not be able to coalesce effectively into a super-project. While they'd no doubt welcome someone with very similar goals and skill, there's no point in t...

So do that. It'd be a start. Nxain makes some good points. I don't agree with them all, but they're nice to hear. Why the rage is appearing I don't know as he's been utterly civil. One thing I do agree with is that Spring has great potential. Not only that, but a number of the developers (engine and...

Re: Mod dependant ranks for lobby?
I reckon you should be able to see people's time in game and win/loss ratio, that you should be able to break this down further by mod, and that autobalance should consider these factors - in a mod specific fashion - first and foremost.

Re: [Mod] - Final Outcome
It sounds alright, but... does the world really need yet another TA mod? Will anyone play it? Will the end result be worth the work? I can't speak for you and obviously don't have your abilities when it comes to modelling, texturing and the rest... but it seems more productive for talented people to...

inglish is spanish for 'english', why they do it I have no idea, and its slightly annoying when tis used in english text that's been translated yet they cant even get the name of the language they're writing in correct. Similar reason to why we call Espanol Spanish I guess. But yeah, if I was attem...

Re: New User Impressions and Suggestions
The real answer to this is to get a small singleplayer skirmish or campaign mode up. On downloading, players should be encouraged to practice solo play with AI or chickens before attempting to play online. When they make it to the online stage, it should be emphasised that the best way to spend your...

Re: [WIP] - My TA re-modeling and re-design
That texture doesn't grab me... again I think your textures may be better suited to play distance though, so a shot from there wouldn't go amiss (and this is a good thing, that's where everyone sees them from most of the time!).
Think the teamcolour is a bit garish too, that doesn't help.
