Re: Spring engine performance boost
Common sense possibly wins over speedfan here, bad signs are:
- Almost no airflow is coming out of the fan exhaust, especially at the lowest fan speeds
- The fan is very noisy and spins fast despite a low/medium system load
- The fan sounds muffled or like it is under strain

Re: Spring engine performance boost
In many cases vacuuming the fan from the outside is not sufficient to get rid of the dust and you have to open up the machine. I have dismantled many notebooks for this specific cleaning procedure. Sometimes easy due to the design, other times very hard. Older notebooks that cannot throttle the spee...

Re: Engine Testing - 94.1.1-826-g7f6f61d (6. Aug 2013)
This is due to network latency or mechanical HDD seek time. With an SSD, the windows dialogs are fairly accurate, although very annoying due to the time wasted (to gather total file sizes and compute the time required for copying) before the actual copying starts.

Re: gpl violation 94-20130812
If someone has a fancy hexacore i7 , or a very high-end AMD with 6-8 cores, and would like provide a benchmark, please PM me. Thanks! Does it still only get to run BA? Or is it somehow capable of using LuaRules/LuaUI/LUPS/LUS/Lua-anything without desync? AFAIK all games run fine and there are no kno...

Re: Spring developer crisis
As far as the dev who was recently ousted. He put out a broken release to promote his pet project Wow, I had no clue you did perceive it this way. If anyone else thinks like smoth, I'd like to hear about it, and the true story is as follows: I did indeed put out a fail release, 92.0, due to miscomm...

Re: gpl violation 94-20130711 has been released
FYI: the source code of "gpl violation" is missing too (which is a gpl-violation as well). There is no source. gpl violation was created using a hex editor. If you don't believe me, just do a binary compare of springlobby and gpl violation. And if you have executed the compiler, "gpl...

Re: gpl violation 94-20130711 has been released
Hello folks! I already released my game "Balanced" which is an exact copy of BA with threading related fixes. Silentwings was not happy with this name, but since I already released I have no plans to change the name now. However, I have offered to change the name in conjunction with the ne...

Re: thread CPU affinity not set
At least one gadget and a few widgets were fixed in Balanced 7.78 MT, but it can indeed be difficult to find due to the large bulk changes you pointed out.
Maybe there is only one BA, but to me something that is indistinguishable from BA is equivalent to BA.

Re: thread CPU affinity not set
On part of BA, I ask that your project works with the official modfile that we release. MT needs additional fixes, and there is nothing I can do to prevent that. However, due to the fact that I am (or was) a member of the BA dev team and committed some of these required fixes to your repo earlier, ...

Re: thread CPU affinity not set
- The game name is "balanced", which does not violate BA's mutator naming policy. Furthermore, the policy is meant to protect other games from profiting on the BA name, but in this case it is an exact copy of the game with fixes. In addition to this I am a member of the BA dev team, so I c...

Re: thread CPU affinity not set
whats your plan, to not split springs community? how do you plan to integrate the changes of your fork into spring? This confused me a lot. I'm getting the impression that you changed your mind and want MTsim after all, but at the same time I'm thinking "no, that can't be". jK's post adde...

Re: thread CPU affinity not set
I respect the BA dev team's ownership of the BA name, but that's it. Because BA in turn is based on older open source projects, a new sudden introduction of stricter licensing rules is not possible nor legal. As AntiAllez pointed out, the fork is therefore named "Balanced" and not "Ba...

Documentaries. Also reality shows, but only the good kind.
Watching Cops really makes you feel like a saint, also it is hilarious to see the difference in how UK/US police operate.
