Re: Mod / Map separation

The same reasoning can be applied to the point of view of a game maker. The maker of a game should be allowed to protect presentation of his work just as a mapper. Hence the problem of how to achieve this so neither damages the work of the other. The obvious example of this being DSD special. There...

Re: Mod / Map separation

"Play another map" offers no solution to the fact that anyone can put content in maps and trick people into playing it when 99.99% of people will not know that there can be content in maps.[...] That is why there needs to be a solution to indicate to the player that maps can have content ...

Re: Mod / Map separation

@Google_Frog 100% ack This thread should be for requesting a little tick box in the lobby called "use map special stuff". MAP OPTIONS This needs cooperation from the map maker. Image *special stuff*(not yet clearly defined) put into a map without any map option to en- or disable this. You ...

Re: Mod / Map separation

It's the deceit that irked me. He placed his mod into a map and piggyback off the most popular mod name "Balanced Annihilation" to get people to play it. This is wrong because [*]People who know they want to play BA are tricked into playing another mod and their time is wasted. Speed*: A ...

Not really. Regardless of what senna does, this feature is still desired to prevent future retardedness.
He did what was possible, used an exploit. Like you do very often. What's the difference here?

All they will know is they are playing Mod A with Map X and assume the game they are playing is Mod A CA, Comet Catcher - com types (normal com, CATcom (d-gun from start), ...) - commander lineage mode - chicken types (chickens, chicken eggs) - communism mode - game mode (normal, tactics, deploymen...

Re: Mod / Map separation

Have you tried contacting whoever runs Jobjol to get that DSD special map removed? The internet has more than one web server. Have you tried contacting TheFatController to blacklist that DSD special map in next BA? Next version will be named: "DSD extraordinaire". Do you want to start a r...

Re: Mod / Map separation

I don't see the problem with allowing gamemakers to control their game in this regard If someone puts a mod inside a map archive he is a game maker. If this were an option I'd totally say it should go into CA. I don't want people to play CA after I put so much hard work into it and not even be awar...

Re: ModHijacking (again)

If someone made their own mod and called it BA or CA deceitfully, that wouldn't be okay and you wouldn't tell them "just don't play it." Okay. There is absolutely no reason to put a mod into a map other than to be deceitful. you can say that speedmetal is a modhijack because of the speed ...

If you do so, please say how you fixed it, so others can benefit too - a.k.a. "provide a patch".

Looks like the Custom Formations Widget from BA has similar problem like the one in CA.

Re: Springlobby is awesome

Going in the lobby doesn't work, it normally ends up with one of the following results: [...] File a ticket None of which really help. Ok, then do not report your bugs, just open a thread saying Springlobby sucks. Things will be better soon. Tickets appear to be building up and not being fixed anyw...

Re: Spring lobby sucks!!!

I think part of the problem with SpringLobby is that it's trying to do too much. Not too much. It's more that there are not much developers with enough time. The other big fail is the tab-seperation. Having to switch to the "chat" tab when you receive a message on the "multiplayer&qu...

The problem: Tasclient doesnt work And that's why Springlobby sucks? and spring lobby lol this is a good joke <_< In the beginning it was planned as a joke. Re: Springlobby is awesome

springlobby seems organic, it makes mistakes whenever it wants too, instead of consistently. Did you make a ticket with a more precise description? Also when it does work PICKING MAPS SUCK, when you have 900 maps. Yeah, if they are just in a simple list, you have to scroll a while. But the list see...

0.79 releases

There were 3 versions released: 0.79.0, 0.79.0.1 and 0.79.0.2. The Lobby accepts all 3 when connection to it. When there are players with different versions in one game it might cause desyncs - this is known. It's better to force them all to use one version (even if they have to install spring twice...

And by awesome I mean it fails epicly on 64bit machines. That's not an error. It tries to emulate TASClient behavior. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfWtLPaSjiY - ring does not ring On my PC the PC speaker (that tiny little thing inside the pc) is used. So I hear rings. - chat windows always sc...
