Re: The end of the maintenance branch
"drop the maintenance branch" <--- does this mean people will be unable to fix stuff on 105.0.1+ that's gl 3 compatible if serious issues are found 1 month after the release? if so, BAD Someone fixing maintenance is illusion and clutching at straws. Just have a look at recent github activ...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
Enthusiastic by @abma move I'm posting some proofs new GL is up and running: https://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?mode=view&id=11183 The map extension relies fully on OpenGL 3/4 core features with no old GL (*). 8 extension plates are rendered by means of instanced rendering. (*) - exce...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
We use GCC 10 in BAR branch with no issues.
Overall, please make a stable release already, no one is going to continue working on the maintenance branch, it's time to call it and release it on some stable platform like github.

The infra continues to deliver.
Now springfiles is down. Consequentially all PRd downloads are down as well.

Not sure what you want, saturnV.
Why are you asking these questions? Everyone is aware about the issues you mentioned.
If you want to improve something, go ahead and improve. No need to whine and demand what you have not paid for.

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
I think it was discussed extensively, but let's reiterate: "Private" branch is private in a way that it's not hosted on spring's github (to which I have no access). Otherwise it's open-source, same GPL license, hosted on github, binaries are available for download, etc. The reason it has B...

Would you mind discussing your game at wherever you dwell these days or at least in your subforum, please ?

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
As far as I understood ivand's (and others) changes compared to the maintenance branch will break the existing mods/games. Just to get a better feeling (please do not start another flame war): How much effort is it to make an existing mod/game compatible with the changes? It's more complex than sim...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
It's been a while since I reported anything. The work continues in the background, right now in the private BAR branch (testing is mostly done in the game called BAR). As I was mentioning before BAR branch was supposed to serve as a testing battleground and sure it has been. Only with live testing I...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
what?! I hope this wasn't deliberate... we lack a guide for how to convert the GL calls that no longer work for ones accepted by the develop engine. several of MF players use toasters with performance issues, i doubt they'll be compatible with GL 4.0+, so this will cause problems on my player base ...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
@Ares, the time and energy you are spending into making up some bullshit and forcing us to dispel it should better be spent on uplifting your game to 104+ engine. Otherwise I don't see why you would bother about the engine future, if you and your game chose to live in the past.

Re: The end of the maintenance branch
Thanks Hoi!
A short update: currently I'm dealing with bugs that occur in very specific setups. Systems, I and other beta testers have, do not reproduce the bug, but I hope to get hold of someone I can troubleshoot the issue with.

Re: Maximum atlas texture size & number
You'll need to fast-forward into "new" spring. I suggest you join one of the active Discord channels. I'm aware of two: ZK or BAR. Also I think most of us on Discord read official Spring Discord (though it's quite empty as far as new content). As for the units, models, textures, etc. I sug...

Re: Maximum atlas texture size & number
https://feedback.wildfiregames.com/report/opengl/feature/GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE Therefore you likely would want to stay at 4k or 8k per dimension. Something like the following should output the GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE value of your local GPU driver. local GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 0x0D33 Spring.Echo(gl.GetNumb...
