Re: Spring Site 2
While a good backend is very important, don't discount the importance of a good frontend. When I visit a site, and it's got really bad looking front page, I have a very (Very!) strong urge to just close the page. The other big point is CLEAR navigation from one place to another on the site. Everythi...

CA has more than 8 balanced units which is more than BA has ya lol flash and stumpie keep pwning my baes they must be OP lol Oh and yes, TA was my fav game of all times so atm BA is most close mod that playes well. +Much better than TA. :) +1. Have you *played* OTA lately? BA is as different from it as CA is.
And no, it isn't.

Re: CA and the primary mod
Seriously .. in open source, only "dead" projects are "finished". Everything alive is consntly evolving/improving. There is no end. In the project the size of mod you can always find something to improve or extend. You seem to be still very new to this community (judging by inga...

Re: CA and the primary mod
And before someone gets really mad at me... I'm not trying to bash CA. I don't hate them all for no real reason. I personally am not a fan of the mod, but I'm trying to unbiased and provide objective feedback. For example, what I said about releasing an unfinished product would stand for anything, i...

Re: CA and the primary mod
[quote="Saktoth"]The whole of spring is 'beta'. CA plays quite well, and in areas we are innovating we can only ensure the game stays fun if its being played. All the devs actively play the game, its where we get our ideas. That's a bit of a generalization. BA is pretty much a finished pro...

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
The next step is to remove them all from TASclient.Tobi wrote:I removed the UF download links earlier today.
Seriously though, it's covered with them. It's naturally very confusing to new users when all the Lobby links are broken.

Re: CA and the primary mod
CA pros: Nicer GUI More user-friendly More noob-friendly Nicer effects Several remodels(I'm not a huge fan of them, as they depart to much from the TA style, but then again, CA is trying to be different than TA. :/) BA pros: BALANCE Player base Faithful to TA(It's because of this that I think, even...

Re: Showcasing spring to new users (feedback)
you could make a nice flash video tutorial with http://www.debugmode.com/wink/download.php for the new players and the lobby could show it at the first start ... While it's not a bad idea, people tend to ignore intro/tutorial videos.(Myself included.) That's why things like this need to be integrat...

Re: Showcasing spring to new users (feedback)
Yeah, something definitely needs to be done about the intuitive-ness of the whole setup. I've directed a lot of people towards Spring, but only a couple of them have stayed. One, who used to be a die-hard TA fan so naturally he was hooked on first sight. The other was very computer-savvy and willing...

This is why I hate joining the lobby. Fucking spammers everywhere, going 'JOIN MY GAME' or 'GET CA'. Quit it already. If I want to join a game, I'll join one. If I want to get CA I'll get it. I don't need you breathing down my neck and getting on my case. What do you think #main is for, other than ...

Re: CA X BA discussion
One of the main reasons I like BA is becuase it's most like OTA. The main reason I downloaded Spring in the first place was because I've always been a huge fan of TA. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best RTS ever made(And it doesn't look like that's about to change, I haven't seen a good looking R...

Re: Lobby crashes as soon as I log in
Someone was mentioning something about unitsync.dll not being found correctly by settings.exe... you might want to rerun that and see if it helps? Nothin'. I even deleted unitsync.dll and re-installed. Still nothing. :( or maybe you're banned :) That wouldn't close the lobby, though, that'd just gi...

I just re-installed the lobby, and it still happens.SinbadEV wrote:Maybe it's the unitsync or something... (not terribly familiar with it) but it essentially runs when the lobby connects to do the checksums on the current files you've got... maybe it's corrupt of something.
Any other ideas?

Re: Lobby crashes as soon as I log in
I just tried AFLobby, and it did the exact same thing. So it's not the lobby itself, maybe it has something to do with the server?
And I ran the game with SpringSP and it started up fine.

After I click the log in button, it shows all the links and info for about half a second then it just closes. No errors or anything.

Lobby crashes as soon as I log in
I just downloaded the update, but when I open the lobby, it crashes as soon as it connects to the server.
Anyone know what it is?
