Re: What Peet Took ( and what he declined to share )

I like playing Spring but it isn't worth this level of nuclear drama. I don't want arguments on the internet to get personal and escalate to this level. If there really is account theft or similar issues involved, we should all just take a step back and ask ourselves what the hell we're doing. This ...

Re: TASClient features request request

What's the best place to get the latest TASClient compile since http://tasclient.licho.eu/TASClientLatest.7z seems to be gone?

I was thinking about drawing up some sort of great Spring forums macro to express this for you but then I realized not doing so would be a far more meta comment.

Re: Ally Selected Units

Well, changing the color to a darker one would clash with other players who use that color. One option would be to use a second circle/pentagon for indicating queues or drop the "hot-units" feature and use the transparency to indicate queues. Excuse me, by "darker" I meant "...

Re: Ally Selected Units

@el_matarife: sorry for late answer, but I am unsure how to code so many different informations just by variing the transparency. Im afraid it would be quite confusing. Darker ring would mean more orders queued. Anyway, I'd be fine with just some sort of a ring around units with orders queued, and ...

Re: Spring Teamspeak server replaced with Mumble

Here's a URL documenting the command line method for starting Mumble and joining a server: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/URLs

With this I'm hoping I can just swap out the TS portion with Mumble, but I probably won't be in front of a copy of Visual Studio till Monday at least.

Re: Spring Teamspeak server replaced with Mumble

Okay I was having some trouble finding them, so here's the sources for SpringDownloader: http://trac.caspring.org/browser/trunk/ ... /CaUpdater

(You may want to consider renaming that directory since it hasn't been CAUpdater for what, a year?)

Re: Spring Teamspeak server replaced with Mumble

TASClient needs a new version pushed to every user that will install and start Mumble instead of Teamspeak. TASClient still starting TeamSpeak is probably a big source of the user confusion.

Re: SSE sqrt() performance tests

jk: sync testing -march=i686 vs -march=athlon-xp is a good idea IMHO. we could provide an athlon-optimized exe if it works, there's plenty of those pretty old processors in spring's playerbase if I'm not mistaken. If the recompile just changes the Spring.exe binary file, why not have SpringDownload...

How do you need an adv energy store for that? Per second is useless anyway, per shot is more important. Fusions give storage, if you dont have enough e prod to give enough storage you really dont have enogh e to power it either. Not unless you can settle for the fire rate of a bertha with it... I s...

can we get Spring in IMAX next? I know you're kidding, but you could actually do something like that for ~$5000 thanks to ATI's Eyefinity and cheap 22" 1080P displays: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112017 (Eyefinity: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1069/1/ Check ...

Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire

I haven't seen this mentioned in the thread yet, but the Vulcan and Buzzsaw used to have issues firing if they had buildings built close to them. I think that may have been fixed but I'd need to check the changelogs or test it to be sure. Anyway, am I crazy for thinking the Vulcan and Buzzsaw should...

Re: Tabula cut on a CNC mill

<Phoenix> Generally I sand off the big stuff first. With raw MDF I generally start with a 220 triple cut sandpaper. Be very careful with this sand paper as it will take MDF in a hurry and you don't want to destroy the great work you've already done so far. After you hit it with the 220, you can go d...

El, What do you do about all the little "burs" all over the material? do you burn them off, or just seal it with glue, then paint, and sand and paint? How are you dealing with all the little "thingies" sticking p from the material? As with all woodwork, it's all about sanding. I...

Re: The BA Economy Balance Spreadsheet

At least use adv MM value of ~45e per 1m. That's the underwater advanced moho maker value. The T2 ground moho maker is 50 to 1 metal, which makes the ROI 363. Anyway, I'd argue if you're metal stalled by midgame you're probably looking for the energy generator that will make the most metal for the ...

Re: The BA Economy Balance Spreadsheet

Well, the energy output buildings don't make metal. However, we know with a metal maker, you can turn 60 energy into one metal so we can put a "price" on the metal cost of buildings by multiplying the metal cost by 60. This isn't going to make a difference in real games because you start w...

Re: The BA Economy Balance Spreadsheet

Example calculation of the Arm solar plant: 135 metal 0 energy T1 metal makers convert energy into metal at one metal per 60 energy. So, take 135 metal and multiply it by 60 to get the energy cost of 8700. The Arm solar plant makes 20 energy per tick, so divide that 8700 by 20 to get a ROI of 435 ti...

Re: The BA Economy Balance Spreadsheet

Suggestions: Put in an "average Wind Value" square so we can calculate what wind's payback period looks like compared to other energy methods. When I built my BA economy spreadsheet, I assumed 80E -> 1M for the energy to metal conversion ration. Then I built an ROI calculator by taking the...
