Re: Update(s) to the FPSing system!
Keyboard movement is something from a bad simulation from the 1990's. How would you move then? Variable throttle? I don't really understand what you're saying here, keyboard movement is the only way to move, unless you want to bind movement to a mouse key. Moreover, the arrow keys are terrible, sin...

Re: Update(s) to the FPSing system!
1. Control over Units is very poorly implemented. They won't turn to follow your mouse, instead you have to control them with the keyboard. Have the weapons that can bear auto-follow the mouse, and if you spin the POV faster than the controlled Unit can turn, you'll have to wait for it to get there...

Mod level no idea, but I've seen a fair amount of "Direct control of unitname is disabled", so it can be turned off.thesleepless wrote:is it at least turn offable at the mod level?

Re: Update(s) to the FPSing system!
Chad: I know you made this thread with the intended purpose of discussing improvements to the FPS system. However, this implies that there should be improvements to the FPS system. I'm arguing against that. Therefore, your argument about my posts being spam is, as I pointed out before, a fallacy; he...

Re: Update(s) to the FPSing system!
This thread is about how to improve it, so that it is useful to the game... That's like you going to a thread about something that's broken, and how it needs to be fixed/updated, and then posting that it's broken... Not only is that spamming, it's showing that you failed to read, or understand the ...

Re: Questions about commands in the UIKeys
There is a way to change weapons in FPS mode, but it's a workaround and you have to know it beforehand. Give the unit two different weaponsets, bind them to the On and Off states, then use ctrl+number to create a group for your one unit, enter FPS mode, select the group and use the X key to switch b...

Re: Update(s) to the FPSing system!
It is already abuseable: you can use it to shoot over range. To support this: Back when WD was not yet lost in the mists of time, I used to play SP in that /send mode whatchamacallit just to muck about. I soon found I could use the ADATS (Air Defense Anti-Tank System, name says it all) in FPS mode,...

Re: making a mod that is commercial
While the Spring engine is released under the GNU GPL, you don't need to release your mod under this license as the mod data is not a integral part of the engine. Still, we encourage you to do so. Please keep in mind that if you don't release your mod under the GPL you are legaly not allowed to tak...

The FPS mode is just a pointless gimmick anyway that does nothing useful. This is spam, and this shows that you've neglected to read my thread... Don't spam in my thread please... No it isn't spam, it's a refutation of the reasoning behind this thread. While I'm a big fan of FPS mode, I have to agr...

Re: Diplomacy zones
You mean zones on maps? Hmm, could be very interesting..... You could simulate countries or control zones or something, would work nicely with S44 (and WD if it ever gets resurrected).
