Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

The best way I've seen it put is that smoth (and maybe a few others) gets really mad at people that have potential but are, through laziness or greed, denying the world access to it. Imagine all the epic stuff the world could have if people like you and I really worked at making something instead of...

Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

A few times in grade-school I invited my programmer buddy over to hang out after school and we were so bored playing video games after a few hours that he'd build a Quick Basic engine, I designed some art and gameplay mechanics, and then we built a a simple "asteroids except the point is to min...

Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

But what do you mean "you are instantly alienating a significant subset of qualified contributors"? Many of the people qualified to help you will avoid helping you because they don't want to waste their efforts helping someone who's project is likely to get an orbital C&D... you know ...

Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

Uh... what do you mean? Wasn't there that Gundam RTS made on Spring? There "was"... note the use of past tense and lack of GundamRTS sub-forum in the projects area. (Also, it's not the entire community that feels this way... I mean the "main games" are still using names, scripts...

Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

I'm a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan but that's not going to help you because I'm just a parasite who hangs around the forums trying to seem important. Also, also.... if you are planning on making a game based on an existing Intellectual Property in any sense other than "in the spirit of" you...

Re: Etiquette for non-programmers who want to make a game?

As a fellow with a long track record of "doing it wrong" I have a few ideas (that might still be way off base). Rule 1: There are two types of people: People with ideas and no skills and people with ideas and skills... people with skills aren't sitting around waiting for ideas.... but they...

Right... it's like "don't bother locking your door, determined thieves will just break in anyways"... every little bit of protection helps drive potential attackers to easier targets.

Re: Homemade Cafe Mocha

I absolutely have a caffeine dependency... I've come to terms with it and baseline 40oz of strong coffee a day and top it off with a coke or two if I need to be sociable in the evening. So I had to convert that using my scientific calculator: it turns out 1 oz = 28.34952 g, but why use a measure of...

I find it funny whenever I hear/see people say such a thing - it's not something people realise easily (though it's pretty obvious once you have the knowledge about it and think about it for a while). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine_dependence I absolutely have a caffeine dependency... You know you want to see it moving ;) It would be super cool if they had some kind of model aware 3D scanner it would be cool if people stopped thinking 3d modeling works this way. You are as bad as "enhance" in CSI. Silentwings made that mistake. :?: I see... I made multiple mistakes.

Your paint skillz seems to be more than adequate.

Warmachine sculpts are so sexy... If I WAS going to get into miniature wargaming that's where I would start.
