Re: Carrier Model

Huh? Generally you want fewer polygons for something big and flat, and more for small details. In your case specifically though, sp111kg, the hull needs more polygons, and the turrets/other misc details need less. Its not that they need less polygons because you are over some set limit of polygons y...

Re: Non-Spring Random WIP

This is a picture of an 8-bit comparator as part of an ongoing series of weekly projects leading up to a final project where I am to design a fully functional alarm clock. http://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?id=6597 While not strictly "art" I thought it was pretty neat. (and a hor...

Not sure about those games specifically, but any games played on Springie autohosts log elo ranking (basically a measure of win/loss ratio) to estimate skill

Re: Did you have a nice summertime?

Had a bunch of cousins over (6 blue eyed blonde haired little kids all under 15 yrs, 1 of them a girl -- had such a hard time keeping track of their names XD) and went jetskiing with them (actually went again with a friend to a lake near here before class today ;) ) My dad started teaching me to fly...

Re: Need Models for unit poser (demo) mod **tastefull photos**

All the ones listed have everything (except perhaps unit definitions?) required to go ingame. Sorry they aren't pre-packaged, cleaned and zipped but I just don't have the time or motivation to do it. Bandit, Pyro and Sumo are my favorites, but they are all so very different its hard to pick the &quo...

Re: Psychology of mass violence/sadism and mass irrationality.

When I was little I intentionally squished a fuzzy caterpillar. At the time I was just curious as to what would happen. I had no concept of death, I just wanted to see what would happen. I was only sad because my parents scolded me and I didn't get to play with the caterpillar anymore. Later, one of...

Re: Serious Issue

FLOZi you *did* ask for it... But it is not a non-issue. Its a relatively interesting legal conundrum. Not very weighty; the worst that can happen is we get a cease and desist and change the logo. On one hand we use the real Microsoft® and Apple® logo. The issue is not about copyrights, but tradem...

Re: Please disallow polical and religious discussion.

I wouldn't support a complete ban of all political and religious discussion, as much as I dislike sifting through pages and pages trying to quell trolls and unnecessary bickering.

We really should have a separate sub-forum though. "Politics and Religion"

I am not going to read this thread, but I would like to remind people to be civil. Different people have different beliefs, and that is OK. Forum threads are for discussion, and if you don't have anything that is conducive to insightful discussion please consider refraining from the topic at hand. I...

Re: Enemy spotted?

Over the Christmas period there has been a bit of a lull in the gaming, as you can imagine most people are doing Christmasy things. You'll see an upkick in the number of players after new years. Glad to see I wasn't the only one. @exciter: We're currently working on a promotional website and polish...

It's hard to imagine there is no way to automate the task. Even I (as nubbish as can be when it comes to code) was able to get unit names and descriptions for the website automatically using the unit definition files. (and MK made a more versatile script that I haven't actually checked yet, sorry :o...

Re: Playing Games Late

Pretty much every single game I've ever played was "late". I don't really pay any attention to new games because publishers like to hype stuff a lot. (Hello, Spore) so I wait until other people get cut on the bleeding edge of things and cherry pick the good stuff after its been vetted.

Re: Random WIP

@MElvinVM: those look really awesome. The thing that sticks out the most would be the back of the long battleship looks really barren. Little guns look strange on that huge expanse of flatness. Perhaps adding a missile launcher or some other big weapon would be better.
