Re: Spring version naming explained
does spring mt (GML) call opengl from different threads? when looking at the graphics it looks like different threads share one opengl context?! The main-render/main-sim/render-helper threads share context unless MultiThreadShareLists = 0 MultiThreadShareLists = 0 usually gives higher FPS, but game...

No. The customer is always rightGoogle_Frog wrote:Do I have to make a snap decision whether to like something and then stick to it while ignoring future evidence?
Imo 95.0 is a better idea since 94.1 is somewhat playable.

Re: Spring 94.0/1
It's true that 94+ is slightly heavier on the cpu than 91.0, but I think its a small effect I wrote earlier that 94.0 is faster but I have changed my mind. In synthetic tests it may appear faster but in a real game 94.0 is quite a bit slower than 91.0. Is this due to the new pathfinder or is it bec...

Re: Spring 94.0/1
On a normal host, yes. MT or not does not matter there.
On an MT host, all users must first download MT.

Re: Spring 94.0/1
94.11 is an unofficial release so definitely not. I think the lobbies provide major releases only (95.0 --> 96.0 etc) but the bugfix releases have to be manually downloaded.

Re: performance drop after nuke/balst/selfD
Same here for past few weeks. Not so much with nukes or blasts thou. But whenever lots of text comes to the chat window(selfd, game starts, game ends) mouse pointer moves like a big ass snail in tar - and yes the whole game slows too. Also very often when game ends chat window gets filled with vari...

Re: Spring 94.0/1
Under which circumstances should I decide for APATH or not-APATH versions? MT (APATH) is much faster. The other one is simply 94.1 + bugfixes. I recommend you get both versions. If you play single player setup the lobby to start spring-mt to get the performance boost. If you play online the correct...

Re: scheduled releases?
I suggest we have a scheduled test game every month and release the tested version if the test game didn't indicate too many problems.

Re: Spring-MT BA (30-03-2013 15:00 GMT)
I cannot manage to make it work either. So you have the spring installation dir, with executables: spring spring-multithreaded spring-mt And when you type "spring" in the command prompt it starts fine, but "spring-mt" gives a missing font error? Very strange, does not make sense...

Yes, spring-mt is the important one. spring-multithreaded is almost same as the one in 94.0, just a few minor fixes.

Re: Spring 94.0/1
in 93 release notes: "much faster Sim (~20% and ~50% with working OMP)" But yesterday I saw lot's of lagged out people. Looks like 94.1 release is not faster than 91 release. I have i7 3770k and spring works good for me (91 and 94.1), but it's sad to kick people from game because of lag i...

"Or" depending on whether you want to manually fiddle with the files. If you do it right, the end result is more or less the same. Sorry for the confusion but some novice users don't even know that there is a "Program Files" folder. Alba: Yeah we should do superspeedmetal. We had...

Re: Spring-MT BA (30-03-2013 15:00 GMT)
Yes, you can put the exes in your folder and keep them there. Or if you are on windows you can uninstall 94.0 and use the MT installer, it works on all servers.

Re: Spring 94.0
Posible pathing problem (Spring 94.01 + NOTA 1.71) : two tank-units instead of going on the right place just making circles. No pathing showen in debug mode. Check example image . BTW thers just small heat-mapping for those flash tanks. Seems like a rare occurrence, if you have the demo it would he...

Re: [solved] BATTLEOPENEX was undocumented
security risk? i don't see a big difference between typing in an url, download a program, run it and run a lobby which (maybe asks before) downloads a program and runs it. There is a difference. With the manual download, you can see where the link points, while with an automatic download system you...

Re: Spring 94.0
c++: Fehler: MT/git/spring/rts/lib/streflop/libm/headers: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden Does the above path resemble anything that actually exists on your system? The make files for MT are virtually identical to those for 94.0, so I am suspecting cmake got confused by a path that contains s...
