Re: New wiki list of repos
I've not included THIS and Air Raid in my repo because there are separate repos that cover them already.

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
is noob to pro still relevant? or it hasn't been updated to the new ui? Dunno, where is it? Pretty sure space has always been the main menu though it used to be simply hierarchical instead of requiring you to use a search box to find anything. If it's outdated there are probably some newer tutorial...

Re: Substruct
@KDR With your track-record I find that hard to believe :-) Most of the ideas I turned into games went through significant rethinking before being worth doing. It's easy to think up a creative new scheme for producing things and such, it's hard to make the scheme more than just busywork where you s...

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
back then noob to pro was missing steps to create the armature Oh, that. It's just another object so either use the search text field in the space bar menu (the main menu of Blender) or select it in the shift-A (add object) menu. Then hit tab to enter the edit mode and modify the bones (same as wit...

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
What were the issues you had? You need to create an armature, then extrude the bone chain to get what you want.

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
I tried exporting anims from Blender once but failed at the maths. Nowadays Blender can give you rotations in the exact format you need for Spring AFAIK so it would be easier. However the lack of mesh deformation is brutal. There's definitely a lot you can do with Blender that you would have no chan...

Re: cegTag colormap alpha broken?
The render mode for alpha in CEGs isn't the regular SRC_ALPHA/ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA (i.e. regular blending), it's ONE/ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA. It does not multiply your texture's RGB values with its alpha, the alpha only darkens the background and the texture is added over that. So at near zero alpha you ...

Oh, yeah, I came up with a similar design once but couldn't figure out enough details to make it a good idea.

It has pathfinding across the galaxy map but not within the space of each planet. Then again THIS doesn't have pathfinding either

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
In what world is AI War not an RTS? And yes, AIW needs less math per unit but that's because it's designed for huge battles and CPU usage is a constant concern for the devs. Spring isn't exactly slim when it comes to unit handling but a lot of that CPU usage is for things you might not even want (li...

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
AI War runs on Unity.
Anyway, I think that while Spring does all those RTS things it does them pretty badly so if you want it to be good you have to reimplement it anyway.

AI War does about 2k-3k units in regular engagements.jK wrote:still making a RTS with a non-RTS engine is a bad idea, cause such engines aren't build for such unit counts, or did ever saw >>1k units in non-RTS engines. Yes even most RTS engines aren't meant for such counts.

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
@scifi+KR bullshit, Unity is not a help to start a RTS, you need to code _everything_ yourself. When you played Oil Rush you see how much it sucks at RTS. Oil Rush is Unigine, not Unity. Lemme think about the non-RTS things I've done with this engine... Air Raid has been mentioned. I also made a Pv...

Re: Why not SpringRTS?
Now what i think its odd, its that people dont make simple games in spring, ive yet to see a space invaders spring or anything of the sort, ive seen spring tanks and spring racer, but thats just it. Space invaders? That's just a load of work for no real gain when you could just grab a regular 2D ga...

I believe I heard something about them abandoning that P2W stuff?gajop wrote:They are behind World of Tanks, which in my experience is the worst type of f2p games, where you literally have golden bullets that make a huge difference.
Not something to look forward to in strategy games.

Wargaming.net got it, they also bought GPG so they might put Taylor on the helm again.

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
I believe the planets are toroid maps displayed as spheres (so kinda like Populous 3), that would mean they could draw the entire surface of the planet onto a minimap without distortion.
