Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

My point? Don't know that I have one, I just see no reason to be as excited as varikonniemi, and to a lesser extent you sheep. You don't even know for sure who created bitcoin, what their end-game agenda is, yet think it's purely utilitarian for the benefit of all mankind(??). When reality it just s...

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

I don't see the connection between "benefit the poor" and "favors early adopters". If you believe there is a simple connection because it is a zero-sum game, you are probably forgetting about the rest of the picture. Someone will lose money... my guess is that it will be those w...

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

How can a currency that so heavily favors early adopters benefit the poor of the third world?

I know of one individual who hinted that the U.S government had backdoors to RSA (at least) as far back as early 2010.

+1 gajop. Anyone can take a set of data points, apply them to a logarithmic model function and extrapolate that. This was tought in first year of my comp sci degree years ago so excuse me if I'm not as impressed as the 90's and 00's kids speculating in bitcoin as if it were the only exhange trade av...

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

Only 21 million bitcoins can be mined. But there can exist any number of bitcoins in practice. Simply let wallets store smaller and smaller units of bitcoin. Today you can have 21 billion coins in circulation (mBTC). I guess in your mind, 1 meter is an infinite distance, because you can divide this...

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

Don't forget there's still 9 million bitcoins left to mine. Also remember that the US has an unproportional share of world wealth to begin with. That said, I'm sure the bitcoin wealthy people also made tons of money in "real" currencies selling mining rigs, to drive up prices up further (l...

On the other hand:

I'm starting to think that digital currencies must be valued in the same way social media companies are - by the number of active users and/or trade volume. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

Exactly what klap said. Bitcoin now has become a get-rich-quick scheme. Ordinary decent working folk don't want to gamble their hard earned savings away. This leaves the people with quick and easy money, like criminals and people who inherited fortunes and never worked a day in their life. Bitcoin i...

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

If you want to be in the game now, here are some of the options: Invest $1000+ for a full bitcoin (or buy smaller denominations, you late-adopter sucker) Buy a mining rig. Preferably the best one to even have a running chance - priced at $12,995.00 plus VAT and shipping plus a 1200W+ PSU. Oh and it ...

The most common misconception about Bitcoin is this talk about a bubble; mainly, this tulipmania Bitcoin analogy that the naïve and ignorant use without knowing anything at all about Bitcoin. How do you equate Bitcoin to a tulip? Have these people done their research? Beside from looking pretty a t...

Ah true, nice catch. They estimate for 650 W/GH/s but KncMiner's most expensive rig has 1 W/GH/s. And they have 20nm rigs on the way, those should increase efficiency further.

Re: Bitcoin mining made easy

A good profit margin for a company is 10%. When you pay 4% credit card fees on your sales, your profit margin sinks to 6%. Using Bitpay you get 9%. That is a net 50% increase in your profit. You also can forget charge backs, identity thefts, fraud etc. I wouldn't call 10% gross profit margin good.....

googling a bit seems SC2 apm is very strange: -It is apm in the "most intense" moment, whatever that means. (Probally that it is "maximum apm" and not average over whole game. Imo only average over whole game has any meaning) troll apm The score screen shows average APM. Replays...

Ace[Sure] issue - or maybe a Spring 95 issue

All players experienced lots of lag during this game, then in mid-game I "lagged out" and even though it showed that I was not behind, I couldn't continue playing because the server didn't seem to send me any new data. After shutting down Spring and trying to reconnect maybe 10 attempts, i...
