I've played games where i've been AFK the first 5 minutes, and then come back and still won the game. Differences in skill and also luck will have more impact on it I believe, either way it is up to the one joining. Especially with the Spring maps being larger than TAs, a player dropping in won't be...

Is this idea limited to the COM port or is there a way around to make it possible with two USB/PS2 mice perhaps, maybe one could "trick" the system into thinking one is a gamepad/joystick device? as long as you can have two cursors..

Joining games post-launch

Don't know if maybe this has already been suggested but.. I just thought of a nice feature(those of you who have played GC2 have seen its sweetness), how about allowing players to join a Spring game after is has already started? ie someone drops in 5 minutes into the game and is assigned a fixed spo...

Nanoviruses is a subject for quite some research, so I don't see why not.
Mod authors can decide how large they want their buildings and etcetra, but the "original TA" mod should stay the same.

oh yah 64 bit spring is gonna be sweet, but then wont that require a whole line of new compilers? Best wait till we start seeing Intel Itanium processor adverts Itanium is an entirely different architecture, it's not 32-bit compatible unlike Intels new EMT64 and AMD64. And since it is meant for ent...

You're both right in ways, overall lets agree that you need a good all-round system to enjoy Spring as it was meant to be enjoyed, that meaning none of your components should be a bottleneck for another. Sorry, that sounds like a quote from TA, which btw had no hardware excleration. Which ment yes it didn't need a good graphics card. For spirng However, one of teh makers (bow down bow down) has already said somewhere (thats probablie lost in the great hack), that shadows didn't work cause his card ...

If you want a "speedy" game, meaning fast loading times and non-choppy battles you need a fast CPU and a lot of RAM. The graphics itself isn't that demanding so don't worry as much about that, especially if you have a 17" screen or smaller you won't be needing your Geforce 4 MX or sim...

To be frank, almost every single suggestion i've read in this thread has sounded as corny and dull as it gets. I'm glad they decided to keep 'Spring'. Let them concentrate less on names and more on the development of the engine.

As long as it can be switched off, why not, maybe it will attract all those WC3-kiddies to Spring and create a new (larger) fanbase.

Seeing as how they haven't responded to your futile attempts to win them over, i'm guessing they don't feel like handing their unfinished work out to strangers. Too bad for you. Next time try a more serious approach to prove your worth as a tester, for example an email perhaps. Just a suggestion of ...

Right now the 6600-series of cards is the best bang for the buck you'll get, if you can find them where you live, the 6600 GT PCI-E version when SLI'd even being comparable to the high-end cards if you have a newer system. You can find Geforce 6600 XX cards from about $125 to $200 in both AGP and PC...

If it could be done like in Generals or Ground Control 2 that would rule, as it is shown in the videos now it appears more like invisible nanobots eating up the trees before anything hits them leaving no trace whatsoever..perhaps a bit more realism with trees would improve gameplay a lot.
