Maybe someone who managed to download it can mirror it? The link is practically not working now, it's completely overloaded.

Re: Deferred rendering of shadow pass.

And because you're deferring it you're avoiding the constant CPU drag of world-objectworld-pixelshader loops, and all of the transfers from memory that are an inevitable part of that. Things like this really make it clear that you have no idea what is happening. jk already debunked your ideas a few...

Re: Lua AI Solution n#2

AFAICS tberthel wants spring to load a java module in some way, and then pass the Lua state pointer to it so the java part can use it with LuaJava. This is quite a nice idea IMO, especially since it doesn't need another java scripting interface in spring, but can just use the spring lua bindings. Th...

Re: Database Administration, and fucking idiots...

This is mostly a communication problem though, I know you can have a idiot boss for an IT project, but if something impossible like that is proposed, you have to break it down and calculate the cost of it. If all else fails, money is the only way to communicate.

Should still work for vs 2005. No one ever build a vclibs package for 2008 though.

I wonder why the wiki link was changed to point to wolfgame.org, is there something wrong with the original vc8libs?

Re: Racing game - Questions

I don't like depending on other people that much. This won't get you far though, everyone needs to specialise. Will you be able to lua, make the maps, and create the racing models? Maybe use Quest3D though? It's sort of a game engine with a data flow language, so it might feel less like scary code ...

Re: Thoughts on the financial crisis - IS THE WORLD ENDING?

I guess this type of disconnect between actual value and stock value is what makes people dump smelly things so fast: not necessarily because YOU are afraid the company will fail, but you are afraid that some other stockholders think the company will fail, which will lead them to selling and you wi...

Re: Advances in (D)VCSes

If people are still in favor of a DVCS, maybe mercurial should be given another look? Tortoisehg is pretty nice, i've been using it myself for a while now. It requires no command line usage (as opposed to the limited functionality of msysgit) which is usually a big plus for windows people (such as m...

Re: Spore's real costs, implications therof. A rant.

IMO with all the stage/civilization stages, they drifted too far away from the real core of the game (Creating cool stuff and seeing it alive). A lot of people are buying the game because of that, and instead they have to play an rts (civ), or space rpg. With the game technology they developed, this...

Re: Spore's real costs, implications therof. A rant.

So yeah, I think it was a crappy investment of 50 million dollars, pure and simple. Innovation is not a compelling reason to spend that kind of money. How do you know that it's a crappy investment if the game is not even released yet? I think the spore creature creator already shows that there is q...

They are commercializing completely new area's of cool algorithms and generated content. For once they are finally spending money on new things instead of sports game 200x, so I really have no idea what your problem with spore development is.... :? As i understand it, Spore required investment in ac...
