Re: Animation in Upspring
Would it be possible to just export from 3ds max to spring's Lua format based on keyframe data? That would make it a lot easier for us 3ds max users. Then again, I'm no coder. So that could be like climbing mount Everest for all I know. I... tried writing that. Couldn't figure out how to get the ke...

Re: P.I.W Modnar
Take the shading gradients off the texture. It makes it look like it has smoothing errors. Generally, you should leave the shading of a model to the engine. It's best not to fake lighting in-texture; it'll cause trouble - at best causing the model to look doubly-lit (texture lighting + engine lighti...

Re: The taint of *A
The first one at least shows all aspects of the game; base construction, the commander, naval, ground and air units as well as some of the game's crazier units (like the walking ships, Monkeylord and the crawling factory tank thing whose name I forget). It also escalates well; from entry, to base, t...

... Knorke you prat, we're not attacking BA because it has players, we're attacking it because it uses ancient TA graphics , which give a bad first impression to those not familiar with the engine. It's hard to bring people in when their first thought is 'looks ugly -> won't be fun', and they won't ...

For my little project, the planned 'Chicken' mode is against Clowns.
Just throwing that out there.

Re: Some models (opinion over model/texture style wanted)
Your base textures look fine, it's just the variation that's a problem. There's not a lot of contrast between parts of the units, so it's hard to understand the shapes properly. You may want to try adding slight colour gradients to units, similar to the technique the MidEast Crisis 2 team used with ...

Re: Want to start a project? Here is where you need to start.
Might want to add 'mesh deformation and bone animation' to 'stuff Spring does not yet support'. Pretty sure that can't be LUA'd (yet) and it's a pretty big 'thing Spring does not support' issue.

...of course it would help if had remembered that 3ds is not 3ds Max's default file format, so I'll still have to export models anyway...
I'll use dae. Thanks for the advice!

Now all we need is a jousting mod where players FPS their fired units to try and shoot each other in mid-air.
