spring-dedicated 0.79 crashing on Windows
After spring 0.79 I can't seem to get spads host working. I reinstalled spads from scratch, but now when I run it I first get a verbose output when spads is loading, and when I try to start a game I get an error: ERROR - [SPADS] Spring crashed (premature end, return status:13568, running time: 6 sec...

Re: Translating TASClient
Sure, about translation: are you sure people want this?
I wouldn't, except for maybe a version with pirate english. And I'm saying this even though English isn't my native language.

Re: Spring 79.1 on Windows 7 RC1 Test Report
TASClient: Crashed immediately when started. I have a crashlog I can email to Satirik if he can post the email address he reads. I tried Tasclient 0.46 and later 0.48 with Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) and both work without any problems. Haven't tried starting any games yet. Edit: started a game, xta ...

Re: Balancing OTA like mods/games
Or simply play with commander ends. The biggest difference in strategy between ota and ota based mods is not the mod, it's the people. In ota it was common to play commander ends, which makes it quite stupid to combomb.Anyone wrote:So simply make the commander untransportable? Duh, a solution!

Re: Vista: Does it really suck that much?
They installed Vista in out university 2 years ago, it made all the old computers hang (old = not dual core).
However, Windows 7 seems to be quite good.

Yes, I think it was written somewhere that the hawk/vamp in ota is stealthy. I don't know whether that means it doesnt show on radar or just avoids fire.

Re: Arties visible on map
In one game I saw a cloaked barto when he tried to d-gun me but couldn't because of insufficient energy. But the sparks from the d-gun were visible and gave away his position. And this is with my radar jammed by a hill, but obviously the dgun-glow can traverse rock better than radio waves :) Yeah, I...

Re: SEA as of now
The fibber, yeah, loved to use that, so sneaky. Why wouldn't this work? Because it can't be seen (other than by other subs), and people would build them and hide in commander continues games?pintle wrote:Arm used to have a sonar jammer sub in OTA, but this wouldn't really work out.

Re: OTA fighter behaviour
I've also played OTA recently, and there some pro's can win whole games by a couple of hawks, by going back and forth. There are many good things in OTA, but the fighter dancing isn't one of these, it's clearly an exploit in OTA too. Why change back something like that, and then be forced to impleme...

Arties visible on map
Just wonder what's the rationale behind the fact that the commander's D-Gun, Big Berha, Intimidator, Vulcan, Buzzsaw and Mobile artillery shells are visible on the map, even outside of line of sight.
I makes for easy spotting of these units.

Too new to XTA so voice about the pewee/AK balance, but I like this philosophy, that arm is the raider and core the sumo.

Re: Balance: bertha/intimidator
True, but now people rush the vulcan instead of the bertha, which is more of a game decider.
I don't know BA games well, but I would have though that powerful LRPC:s make the other team behave more offensively to stop it.

Re: Balance: bertha/intimidator
Targetting facility only aids radar targetting, doesn't affect when you attack ground -- or am I wrong?
Maybe the nuke should be inaccurate as well? I mean, the bertha can hit very wrong, as much as 25% as it feels.
