Re: New notAlobby announcement

On http://nota.machys.net/downloads is an old picture with "NOTA 4.0 lobby 'Toxic'" Bit ago I had tested version nota-0.7.2.msi, no idea how different this one is. 1) Setup nota-0.7.2.msi asks where to install. 2) I enter: c:\games\nota 3) It only puts two shortcuts in that folder. The act...

I was going to make a Lua lobby post my willy-willy but I see the thread is about complaining about nobody playing your maps. :regret:

(springfiles.com) No search results

The search on springfiles.com (sometimes?) returns no results. For example search for "1944" should find the mod, but results are empty: sf no search.png Firefox 41.0.2 This is about the search (or filter?) that you get when clicking "Games" in menu. It finds for example "XT...

Re: "Shadow Quality Manager" turns shadowsize to 8192, causing 16 fps

(Widget also increases shadow quality when your fps is good) Maybe, but from widgetsource it seems to wait 1000+ frames or so before it does that. I do not want to play so long time with laggy fps. ;) I put Vsync=1 now to limit FPS and disabled the widget, sorry that is good enough solution for me....

"Shadow Quality Manager" turns shadowsize to 8192, causing 16 fps

After much annoynce I found reason for FPS drops out of nowhere: Appearently the widget "Shadow Quality Manager" decides to put shadowsize to 8192 which made the game unplayable. I tested that sadowsize has interessting performance drop on my computer, when too large. /shadows 1 256 /shado...

Re: SpringLobby 0.243 released!

Setting all the SpringDataDirs never worked for me...but maybe it was other lobbies or maybe forgot it one time for testversions or so.
In installer is a checkbox ("portable") but it is greyed out.. will use the zip then.

Re: Help choosing a "game"

is there a precedent of a LuaAI existing in spring which is not a part of the game itself? Yes, the MetalHecklerNoobAI: https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=559172#p559172 And of course BA-ChickenDefense which is a mutator of the BA-mod, too. https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=44&am...

Re: Toggling unit information

If you can not get it working or it happens again in a match where you have no time to fix it, try typing into ingame chat:
/tooltip
to use the engine's tooltip.

Re: SpringLobby 0.243 released!

I set up new computer. Question before it becomes 'infected' with spring: In past I had manually unzipped engine versions, using multiple lobbies (for ex springlobby+zKlobby) etc and there was always files appearing in "my documents" of Windows OS. No idea if that was from wrong config, or...

Re: Commsharing/Archon mode

I too had fun with comm-sharing. Imo there were two reasons why it did not caught on: 1) Many matches were instantly quitted/restarted because of players accidently comm-sharing. Even if two players were comm-sharing on purpose, others do know know if willingly or accidently comshare. So someone sho...

Current thread about zero-K AIs http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/20484 For deciding between zK and BA maybe also look with which lobby/infrastructure works better for you, especially if you only want Linux. (since spring and zK are now seperated) zero-K lobby on Linux is mixed: For some seems to work...

Re: Creating a single player campaign with Spring

I know that different OS require different batchfiles/laucher-things, I had already listed it as disadvantage. It is no different with DefaultStartScript/springsettings.cfg where you also need different engine versions for each OS. Both methodes are equally flawed and imo only 'acceptable' among tes...

Re: Creating a single player campaign with Spring

An alternative way is that spring.exe can take a startscript as commandline arguement. In simplest form you can make a batch file named "Start Campaign" with content spring.exe startscript.txt Or some small program that the player runs which then starts spring. That is what several people ...

Re: Right way to play on LAN?

Oh.I tried ip:port but maybe only with 8201 instead of 8200. (maybe confused by 8201 displayed in uberserver window) Maybe it could show something like: Server is running, in lobby enter this connection details: 192.123.123:8200 With such message almost no other written manual is needed. Anyway it w...

Re: Right way to play on LAN?

I briefly tested lamer's edited server thing on windows. It started but I did not manage to connect with springlobby. I entered my local IP (tried 127.0.01 too) and it said "Connecting to 192.168.... Connected to to 192.168...." So at first looked like it worked but seems actually it just ...

Re: Right way to play on LAN?

1) Download server, unzip. 2) Run server.exe from command line. On first start wait until rsa keys generated (~3-5 minutes), ChanServ will appear in log when it's done. 3) Run springlobby and register at 127.0.0.1:8200 (or <LAN ip>:8200) 4) Connect, host/join battle, play. This seems simple enough ...

Re: Right way to play on LAN?

all the info there seems to suggest to either use SpringLS (which I could not get to work with any current Spring version nor SpringLobby - I already spent several hours(!) trying just that) or use uberserver, which seems to only work on Linux. After similiar experience my conclusion was the same a...
