Re: tier 1 unit guide

This is a very helpful guide IMO. 2 minutes reading, and you're up to speed with t1-vehs. Newbies will learn BA basics faster and less painfull this way. Also I cannot agree with this guide because micro is a HUGE factor That's right ofc, but that doesn't make the guide wrong. There should be a extr...

Re: BA dynamics (gamelength, techlevel(s), costs)

Yes - this happens ofc... assholes are everywhere... ... ask yourself: in your exp. who jells/insults more: newbies or (wannabe)Pros? Most newbies I have seen try to learn. The learning curve is steep and in team games there is a lot of pressure from team mates. On a different matter, regarding 1-ba...

Re: BA dynamics (gamelength, techlevel(s), costs)

If a technical solution (like lower mm-efficiency or higher t2-lab-cost) is not viable, then IMO a social solution must be searched. If you're the mamas and papas of BA and know what's best for everybody [0] then act like good parents and make good examples: * Occupy 2v2-5v5 hosts. Not all together ...

Re: 2v2 ba no air no attack in 30 min challenge

what happens if both coms capture each other at the same time?

my guess is engine crash, but it would be funny if both players would just exchange their coms :)

Re: Fix my router and earn 1000Ôé¼

zervers thinks (that's what i didn't understand at first) incoming packet should always follow the port forwarding rules ignoring the NAT I'd call this router broken. Really? The fact that NAT uses the port means it is no longer forwarded, therefore not obeying the rules you have set up. That is a ...

Re: Instruction manual?

It's a widget that switches the nanos automatically to "patrol". It's called something with idle/smart/static bulders... I dont remember - just browse through all widgets... "Repeat" makes a unit repeat its action. That can have different (sometimes funny) effects: Very useful: put a com/con/rez bot...

Re: New to BA/Spring, have a few questions

3) If any of you have played Forged Alliance, you know about strategic icons. Basically they are used to identify units/structures while zoomed out. Is there anything similar for BA? Not sure if that's what you mean, but if you zoom out, at some point the units are replaced with icons. At what dist...

Re: Units decsriptions - have anybody took care of this?

I dont think description matter since balance is still not done: for exemple, for last ba8.19, the descritpion of dragon fly would have been: [..] with new BA8.20, description totally changes. ...just an idea: the widget retrieves version specific information ("description") from a online database,...

Re: Units decsriptions - have anybody took care of this?

When I started playing BA, I would have loved to have a tech-tree in a widged in-game. Units could have been browseable/interlinked like in modinfo.adune.nl. Widget (for the sake of screen-space) would be collapsed starting from the t1-builders and t1-labs as root, like: widget-icon | +------------+...

suggestion for a future BA release (shells do damage)

I have a suggestion for a future BA release: if the shells that exit Bertha/Vulcan/Intimidator/Buzzsaw would do damage to where they fall, that would make it more difficult to spam them, especially near/inside your base. Damage could be like a stumpy-shot per shell?

Re: ATI/AMD users FAQ

Yuri: does this hold true for the final 10.7 drivers? On which platform are you?

On Linux I have the same texture problem with 10.7 in springrts-BA as I had with 10.5 and 10.6 :(

Re: BA and Hd 5870: bad texture.

Good news everyone (hopefully) :)

This morning I got a PM from AMDs Zhen (who has been checking on the bug http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1849) answering my last question (in the bug report) that says:
Thanks Daniel.
I hope this bug could be fixed in the next catalyst so :)

Is it possible to convert the texture format from BAs to the one CA is using (which is not affected)?

I'd do the work to convert everything if I get the right instructions how to.

Re: BA and Hd 5870: bad texture.

I posted this problem in the Phoronix forum discussing the release of 10.6 (http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthre ... 96&page=13) and a AMD dev answered. I have the impression he wants to help, so if we can provide him with more info, that might bring us nearer to a solution.

Re: BA and Hd 5870: bad texture.

I can confirm the bug with 10.6 on Gentoo Linux and 2.6.33-zen3 kernel. I also found the same texture map that FinDude saw on the Com on certain parts of a Mex - it can probably be found on all items...
