Ideally we should remove all and make AIs possible to distribute without bundling them with Spring..
That's probably hard to achieve however, so let's just remove the unused ones as a first step.

Re: COMPILE
I just need to make a Windows game in exe format, without any emulators. Without springlobby. Like in Unity3d and other engines. Is it possible? Sure, just rename spring.exe to MyGame.exe and setup a default startscript so your game gets launched. You can see how we've done it in one of our LD game...

Re: COMPILE
Why are you even compiling the engine? It seems to me this thread exhibits the XY problem . Just use one of the nightly maintenance builds: https://springrts.com/dl/buildbot/default/maintenance/ To actually make a game or map, start here: https://springrts.com/wiki/Main_Page Regarding your compile i...

Re: If Microsoft buys github
I'd welcome having a spring mirror outside of Github (USA) if anyone is interested to set it up.

Re: LD44
No, since this game was never made. The previous one (blood mage) was probably better, but I'd say even that wasn't 100% cleaned up (mouse interaction worked while wasd was borked)

Re: Its time to remove the engine restrictions
I think it's best to just accept the reality and think how you can adjust to it. Namely, is there anything preventing you from playing BA/PA on the newest engine?

Re: If Microsoft buys github
Personally I believe Microsoft has significantly changed its direction and is way more supportive of Open Source projects - I use a couple of it's OSS on Linux (e.g. vscode).
Things turned out much better than I expected - I don't see myself abandoning GitHub for now.

Re: LD44
Ok, in that case we are going to delay brainstorming by 4h from event start. Avoid writing ideas in the channel until then. We can make it without a dedicated artist. We can do programmer art or simply not compete in the art category and use existing art - even stuff from a previous LD is okay. For ...

Ludum Dare starts in two days.
Participants: Silentwings, GoogleFrog, gajop
Start time: On time or delayed? I wouldn't mind delaying game design a bit until Silentwings can come online. If so when would that be?

This discussion has started badly and only gotten worse. Try to maintain some level of civility - we will have to lock it if all you do is throwing punches around. Please remember, despite the obvious lack of appreciation for the community, Forb had nothing to do with this decision. Aim your grievan...

Freedom of speech isn't a universal right you can exercise on privately owned mediums of discussion and as you guessed correctly, I don't live in the US -interestingly, the country I'm in has laws for slander - it's a criminal offense. Anyway, you are free to call in question this decision, but you ...

You can feel free to reject it. I haven't much else to add except I suggest you read a bit on the history of the botflag by searching forums a bit

Re: RIP BA
As I've answered in another place the S1944 nepotism idea is wrong and frankly a bit insulting. I recommend you exercise more reluctance before placing unfounded accusations.
I've never seen s44 mentioned in any story about botflags in the dev channels/subforums that I have access to.

Re: Dispensation for Spring 1944 to use Engine 103
Well I can tell you one thing, this rule wasn't put in place to benefit certain games and punish others. Not a big fan of the 8 player limit myself, but I think the idea is to use the botflag to differentiate between official and unofficial hosts. Official ones have to adhere to stricter rules, whic...

Re: RIP BA
Is there a version of BA + engine that works while maintaining old BA mechanics? What's the issue with PA or whatever? If there's a reasonable alternative for BA (and for other popular games as well) I support the forced min engine version. The old one is not supported anymore and might have securit...
