Re: server updates BA 9/10

Looks like someone with very old hardware (or a broken driver, or both), ogl3.1 dates from 2009.

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

You should train + test it on at least a few hundred games and be able to show a better predictive accuracy that the existing system. That is something Microsoft supposedly (from what they claim in their article) already did, with a very large predictive accuracy gain. The point is that the paper s...

Re: Email verification - protocol info

The short answer is the document exists, but wikifying it is only coming as part of the current rounds of lobbyserver updates. Although we have always had a brief non-technical description of the servers data handing availabe in the terms, and in theory the details are checkable because the software...

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

the TS2 paper tests their model by comparing "expected win rates" to actual win rates That's used to adapt their parameters. It's used in every experiment they do - those comparing the effectiveness of TS1 to TS2, and those comparing TS2 with some feature on / off. (1+log2(p)) , (1+log2(1-p)) Maxim...

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

Prediction percentages suffer from a high amount of noise and treat every prediction percentage as binary correct/incorrect. This isn't (always) correct - for example the TS2 paper tests their model by comparing "expected win rates" to actual win rates. Since the model makes non-deterministic predi...

Re: server updates BA 9/10

@Angel: It does seem worth talking with Shox about the sort of issues you've listed. Check out Phoenix annihilation also – which is just 9.46 on Spring104 (and not a suitable solution to the problem, since the owner of the repo has seemingly disappeared.) Even if CommanderSpice can't be contacted (a...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

I'm afraid the real point here is that its not just about you or players of game xyz, who might well (at least, in the short term, before hardware progression catches up with you) subsist on with zero work / changes. The point is that engine devs usually provide the hardest work and ask for nothing ...

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

it's imperative to craft the `Prior` dynamically, as the stats from the matches kick in As long as something reasonably sane was chosen, I doubt it's worth agonizing over precisely what prior is best. What matters is if the proxy metrics for player skill can actually reflect the long term reality o...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

As was announced in https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=38922 no date was set yet and yes, it's planned that Spring 104 will become the minimal requirement for active games. For reasons, see https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=38922#p589683 and following port BA9 to work on...

Re: Client ammount

The server isn't limiting how many clients these hosts can have (both have botflags). I think you must be looking for some SPADS setting, which you can set yourself.

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

advice? I have some interest in this stuff outside of Spring so I read the papers - thoughts: -- WHR WHR is a variant of Elo (which is likely why ZK came across it, I think ZK used to use Elo), and the paper assumes that only two player games occur. This is different to Trueskill, which handles mul...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

I was kind of hopeful that BAs issues could be had in a separate thread, since we might actually need this thread to discuss lobby server development... so I reserve the right to split if this goes on too much ... BA10 is ... BA9 is ... It's just a question if it's ok to ban the game that is current...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

It looks as though the first (of two) rounds of code updates has gone smoothly.

No known major issues atm, if you see any please report either to this thread or the usual bugtracker.

edit: relay hosts are broken, as usual ;)

(1) A min Spring version requirement for botflagged hosts, which will typically be the current release version. Could you explain the background of this? It's requested (/ demanded!) by engine developers, who can answer in more detail than I can. In short, there was enough feeling that the future e...

Will the registration email feature a link on which to complete registration? See the last time you asked this question https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=37758#p587655 Additionally the link could also feature the agreement, so I can rip that part out of the client as well. This won't...

Upcoming lobby server updates

We're planning to roll out updates to the lobbyserver, starting on Monday. These will add some new features but, since several internal changes & bug-fixes are also involved: we plan to update the lobbyserver code first, with all new features disabled, and then gradually enable the new features over...
