I think the engine devs stopped offering support for versions <=103 a long time ago. If you can reproduce the issue with 104.0 or the latest maintainence builds, report it to mantis.

If I understand right hosting without flag is possible with user accounts up to 8 players even with older version That's correct. - but if I remember right it cannot be SPADS. That's not correct, the server doesn't care (or know) what client software is being used, and SPADS itself can work without...

You should read https://springrts.com/wiki/Botflags#Battle_hosts_on_the_lobby_server to discover what a botflag is. It is a property of the host, not of the players. It was announced months ago that all affected and wishing to use the server should update and/or be ready too, and Spring 104 is already years old (edit: 15 months) as the current major version.

Is there a reason why you would use botflagged battles for your project?

I've done a few code/feature removals following Shox's post above, including - no more reversing vehicles - no more air collision avoidance (except for gunships & air transports, to stop clustering and dying together) - no more unba coms (the code is still there, but made it inaccessible, apparently...

FYI: It's possible to compile Spring. It's just not possible to run it. :)
Happy to be corrected but I suspect this isn't true without commenting some stuff out? And ofc then, you're not actually compiling "spring" anymore.

I don't have such long loading times either (various SSD on Win 7/10) - 30 seconds max when its re-caching, and the vast majority of time there is no delay at all during loading. I do move out sdd folders that I'm not working on, which usually leaves about 5 in games/maps. @Forboding Angel: With 5-1...

This isn't right, see the edgeeffectiveness tag on https://springrts.com/wiki/Gamedev:WeaponDefs.

(Not sure about the exact numbers for the angle multipliers, but afaik the rest are correct.)

Many maps use a combination of baked & dynamic shadows (from a chosen sun dir) to create their terrain shadowing - consequently in most cases the game should not risk changing the sun pos.

On the OP, no bug was reported but it might have been related to lobbyserver work (and if so, I guess was resolved weeks ago, unintentionally).

I guess all that's happened is that what was once "new ideas" now became "a normal LD game".

I'd like to try something different again. I think we should look push in directions that the engine is good at, rather than just doing other game styles with lua.

It's not really fair to say that mac support will be "dropped". Apple lacks support for some standard OpenGL features, which were added to OpenGL around 2010.
