Re: refactoring repos.springrts.com (rapid repositories)

Which urls should we now use to get hold of the sdz built by rapid for major versions?

I don't see any (or even a blank list) on http://repos.springrts.com/ba/, all I get there is a link to the rapid wiki page

Re: sponsor for mac buildbox?

FYI: It's possible to compile Spring. It's just not possible to run it. :)
Happy to be corrected but I suspect this isn't true without commenting some stuff out? And ofc then, you're not actually compiling "spring" anymore.

Re: sponsor for mac buildbox?

See viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38493&p=590080#p590080 - the problem is not missing buildbot power, the problem is that apple chooses not to support gfx features that are necessary to compile Spring.

Re: When can we talk about spring's loading problems (On Windows)?

I don't have such long loading times either (various SSD on Win 7/10) - 30 seconds max when its re-caching, and the vast majority of time there is no delay at all during loading. I do move out sdd folders that I'm not working on, which usually leaves about 5 in games/maps. @Forboding Angel: With 5-1...

Re: Lesser known game mechanics

Laser and beam weapons do 50% damage at max range and 100% at point blank,
This isn't right, see the edgeeffectiveness tag on https://springrts.com/wiki/Gamedev:WeaponDefs.

(Not sure about the exact numbers for the angle multipliers, but afaik the rest are correct.)

Re: Physically Based Rendering

Many maps use a combination of baked & dynamic shadows (from a chosen sun dir) to create their terrain shadowing - consequently in most cases the game should not risk changing the sun pos.

Re: messages from spads hosts not appearing on lobby chat

On the OP, no bug was reported but it might have been related to lobbyserver work (and if so, I guess was resolved weeks ago, unintentionally with other fixes).

Re: LD44

I guess all that's happened is that what was once "new ideas" now became "a normal LD game".

I'd like to try something different again. I think we should look push in directions that the engine is good at, rather than just doing other game styles with lua.

Why can't we use url:s like https://repos.springrts.com/zk/ instead?
I think you will be able to use https, just not yet.

A bit less cool that it is non-free, was made through stealing free projects & ignoring their licenses, which seems deliberate, and then lies about it when asked in https://steamcommunity.com/app/671690/d ... 622576606/

Re: Port spring to ogl Vulcan..

It's not really fair to say that mac support will be "dropped". Apple lacks support for some standard OpenGL features, which were added to OpenGL around 2010. Spring will update to use these features and probably doesn't have the resources to keep ~10yo backwards compat alive. This will mean Spring ...

IRC bridge moving to matrix, disconnection of Quakenet

We plan to soon remove Melbot and use https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=38984 to bridge #sy and other channels to IRC via Springs matrix server instead. Two bridges currently exist for #sy, to Freenode and Quakenet. Unfortunately, Quakenet isn't connected to the matrix, which means we...

Re: 'u' flag and bridge bot interface -- protocol info

Yes, privacy, if bridges out of passworded channels existed then the users would in some sense expect privacy but also have lost sight of where their chat was being sent to. I've (just now) added an exception for passworded battle hosts bridging into their own battles. The upper/lower case issue sho...

It's not the server causing this either - that's a setting picked by the host for the spring executable!

Re: 'u' flag and bridge bot interface -- protocol info

From a autohost named "Spads": "BRIDGECLIENTFROM spads testId testName" Please have another go, there was a bug https://github.com/spring/uberserver/commit/74b8a35bbb31be4262a5e7e5bf693b88a07e6f1d (and note that usernames are case sensitive!) Also, is there any reason to prevent bridging by the hos...

Re: 'u' flag and bridge bot interface -- protocol info

I think I see why you're asking - I'll relax this restriction to allow a host with no botflag to bridge into its own battle, provided that the host uses its own username as the location.

edit: done, modified OP.
