Re: moar feeds!

You can try the #news channel in the lobby, Melbot reports all post on the forum shortly after they are made. Commitbot reports all the commits made in the spring SVN.

Its not as good as a customizable RSS feed in your reader, and you have to keep the lobby open, but it's something. for now.

Re: AutoShare resources only with selected players?

In the mean time, I hope Mel can improve performance and make it mod archive compatible so CA could include it.

Re: Improve Co-op gameplay?

Smoth's idea of two allied team members of different factions would work well with a gadget that automatically sets resource share to full, preferably for only those two players. As an added bonus with such a method, you can still use color differentiation to tell players units apart, unlike with co...

Re: Revised GUI

Yeah, a lot of new people are completely unaware that IceUI even exists. Even fewer of those know you can customize it. Yet fewer still take the time to do it. This means Car and I are pretty much the only people with custom GUI's, that I know of anyways. Other people with custom IceUI setups should...

Re: Revised GUI

Lets see,

Buildbar keeps track of factories,
Unit groups keeps track or groups of units,
Idle builders keeps track of idle constructors.

There's a widget for every feature you mentioned.

Whoever says IceUI doesn't look good never took a few minutes to adjust it to their liking. http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6670/screen046dw2.th.jpg http://img440.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Yeah, the borders are team colored, while the window background is a translucent black. Re: THIS (WIP 7 release)

You could make the imperator seem smaller without actually making it smaller. Suppose you make the other ships slightly bigger and slightly faster, then make THISspace into something like a 24x24 map with more planets. Then the imperator is still fricken huge but doesn't seem like it.

Re: http://spring.jobjol.nl Needs your help

jj, I think you should just host the main site, and leave the file hosting to the mirrors. Just remove jobjol from the mirrors list ^_^ I use the darkstars mirror from the jj page most of the time anyways because AFs server sends me maps much faster.

Re: TASClient : Suggestions

Like revenge, i would LOVE the ability to sort maps and list them by recommended player number. I have a moderately large collection of maps, and I can never remember how many players fit on each. It makes deciding on what map to switch to really tedious.

One strat thats a lot of fun is building a spec ops plane and sneaking it behind the enemies base and defenses. Then you have it build cheap raiders to rape their eco.

Re: (Placeholder)

So why do you need all this clan handholding? Most clans have their own websites and forums for organization. As far as challenging goes, why not just drop in the clans lobby channel and challenge them there? The people that are competitive know who's who regardless of rankings. And we have ladders ...

Re: Dynamic Volume control of .ogg files

Most noobs will be happy with whatever music is included in the mod. If not, then they can just disable music completely and use their favorite media player with global hotkeys to play music. The only noobs that will bother with a music widget are the ones with the time and intelligence to learn its...

Re: Request : Display % of buildrate on cons

I don't see why CA would need it, since you know every builder uses a specific amount of resources every tick, regardless of what its building. This allows you to know how much build power you need based on your income, and really makes a buildrate percentage display redundant information.

Re: Request : Display % of buildrate on cons

Interesting idea, but wouldn't this build rate fluctuate wildly since every unit uses a different amount of build power while being constructed in BA? Such a thing could expose how much of a mess such a system is, and how much of a pain efficiently managing build power is in BA. It would be hard to ...

Re: DWARF FORTRESS

To make DF not stretch things you need to make sure your tileset size, resolution, and grid size (from the latest version) all play together nicely. First, what are the dimensions of a tile in your tileset? For example, my tiles are 16x16 In the init file my grid size is [GRID:89:53] so I multiply t...

Why would you want to do that? Spring Downloader automatically fetches maps from jobjol and the other map sites.
