Yeah, KAIK doesn't play nice with CA atm. I think it was updated though, so should in the next release...

Does a separate X server really give that much of performance? I used to do that (manually logout, login to failsafe terminal) and didn't notice a performance increase. Plus, I found out that that if you use glXCreateWindow, you can normally alt+tab out of games and even use compiz screen edges and ...

Barely anyone plays spring in fps mode in large games. You'd have your own team murder you if you did.

I'm aware, but I doubt to a 5ms difference. The examples they gave had a 100ms difference.

Keep in mind your ping too (which is measured in ms. And we're talking about 5ms here).

My guess is that proper CPU detection by lobbies could help there.
(and have protection against smrt people who'll screw with the lobby to make it lie)
