Back in the old days, when 30 players in the lobby was a record, there was a sense of community and a level of competence that we just don't have anymore. Might be nice to have an old-timer's channel for those of use that remember version .4, the old lobby, and gunships burrowing through terrain. We...

AF seems to have some reasonable concerns, but, may they are not insurmountable. Are any other games implementing this feature or a similar feature? I don't know of any, but if it is already implemented and useful for another game, that would make me optimistic about its utility and feasibility. If ...

netPanzer and Spring

If you haven't tried netPanzer, it is definitely worth giving a whirl. http://netpanzer.berlios.de/about.html It's in the Ubuntu repositories, and there's a Windows binary. I think it's a great game concept that is implemented in a very clunky engine. If Spring could allow a player to join a game in...

It's a shame that the real issues are being ignored. No devs have said what they're going to do about the problems in this release, or the problems in the development process.

A game that plays like nanoblobs

I've been playing Liquid War quite a bit, and something seemed familiar to me. I think it's because ti reminds me a lot of nanoblobs, which I always played thinking about minimizing perimeter and surrounding my opponent's position.

All I asked you to do af, is tone down the attacking in your post, I even copied it into a text file to send you, so that you wouldn't have to rewrite it from scratch. That is it. That is what I have done to other people, that is what I shall continue to do, I no longer care whether you realize thi...

Scratch

Scratch is an interesting, free program that teaches kids programming techniques. http://scratch.mit.edu/

I really like the animation interface though. Are there any 3-d animation programs that work in a similar way?

I dont understand why do we need language files, cant they read english? Its not much needed to learn few words in english, like "start game" or "quit" etc... Other languages than english has always confused me when reading the game menus etc, its just much clearer to use one language in all games ...

I think it played pretty well. It needs a mod with good sea balance. The rig in the center looks very nice. The ocean tiles seem to repeat a bit too often when zoomed out. It has the carpet like texture when zoomed in close.

Overall, very nice map.

Including SVG would allow a lobby program to display an icon at any resolution without losing quality, so icon dimensions will have no arbitrary limits.

SVG is worth looking at. A vector format would make resolution relatively unimportant.

Tournament/Ladder system Been discussed before and Betalord said he'd get round to working on an "integrated ladder and ranking system" but to be honest, I really can't see this being done any time in the short term future. Is there any kind of useable short term solution? Anyone out there willing ...

Colorblindness

While doing research for another project, I found this very interesting page, which includes a tool to simulate the way a color scheme appears to people with different types of colorblindness.

For the detail oriented developer or modder, this might be useful.

If you can do a 5 minute demo using the same process as Red vs. Blue, I'll be interested in checking it out.
