Re: Random WIP

I'd be willing to model you a bridge piece and hexagonal tower top if you'd like. Sounds fun (though I won't be able to actually start until after Friday; need to get a few assignments done)

Re: Random WIP

Another slight problem is the black. If someone uses a very dark (or actually black) teamcolour, those pillars are going to disappear entirely. Look at how hard it is to make out the dark blue pillars compared to the others. I don't suppose there's a way to take the brightness of the teamcolour, inv...

Re: What models are left?

I was trying out the workflow described here: http://www.isotx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8581.0 (particularly the thing about gradients); came out well!

Re: Random WIP

Zwzsg, I'd suggest adding teamcoloured borders to the tops of those pillars, if you can. Makes the colours stand out more, makes the map less dark and would also clearly show the divide between playing area and column wall.

Re: Random WIP

...Sigh. You realise you're both drawing yourselves into an argument even if you try to be civil? Let the issue drop already; it's smoth's call and it's not like you can't make an edit of it yourself once it's out.

Re: Random WIP

a desaturated version or a red version would suffice, since the off version infers an action from its symbol, when actually it is a status, so in some areas you'll succeed and match expectations, in others it will depend on wether they use the repeat button often. Agreed. At the moment, it looks mo...

Re: What models are left?

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4200258/texturing%20complete.jpg Tada, final tweaks done (including giving them actual wheels, which had been bugging me). I'll put downloads up once I've cleared it with my tutors; may have to wait for it all to be officially handed in (Nov. 17th) before I can release it wi...

Re: What models are left?

Wait what I'm being praised by TRO has the world turned upsidedown what Well I'm trying to spruce these three up as far I can (I managed to get away with using them as part of a Uni project; yes I'm cheap shut up ) and I figure if I can iron out the workflow here it'll make things easier in the lon...

Re: What models are left?

Might do. Med tank has size advantage, and I'm thinking of making the treadguard sides on the Mortar Tank teamcoloured too; should make differentiation easier. There's other ways of doing it too, beyond visually: the mortar tanks I imagine are slower than stumpies, and if you add different sounds an...

Re: What models are left?

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4200258/more%20texturing%20progress.jpg More progress (still WIP). Not quite happy with the Medium Tank at the moment; will probably have to do something extra with it before moving onto the next texturing stage. Think it's to do with the turret, but the damn tc gets in the ...

Re: Random WIP

...Congratulations, smoth, you just won the 'most helpful advice ever' award. Will you be collecting it in person or would you prefer it sent delivery? Karl, it might be a fairly complex object for you, but it's still largely made up of simple shapes (ie boxes and cylinders). Try looking up some sim...

Re: What models are left?

Basically: other projects at the time (crunch time on getting Nightmare House 2 out the door), Uni and the simple fact that some of the ideas just wouldn't work / weren't practical on the Spring Engine. Or at least as far as I knew. And I never did manage to work out how to finish up that 3dsmax ani...

Re: What models are left?

Argh, I know how to UVwrap and texture things by now; that was the literal 'dump in colours, block out areas' pass as a starting point. I've got a little bit further since that. :P

In any case, I've found Bodypaint 3d and it's delightful interface to work fine.

Re: What models are left?

That would be grand, but all I want to do with it is paint a damn tank. Which, sadly, ZCentral lacks tutorials for. (Specifically, getting and applying textures to models; closest you can get is an intro to polypaint which doesn't quite work with lowpoly models...)

Re: What models are left?

Rave is an appropriate term where ZBrush is involved. Lots of noise, not much room, flashing lights all over the place and damned if you can get anywhere.

Re: What models are left?

Waldo, concepts I'm working off have no logos anyway, so don't worry. In the meantime, I would like to offer a little tale for the worthy folk of these lands. It's called 'Ode for the 3d Texture Painter'. It began in the land of Photoshop, and it the world was flat. Though the UVs had been laid out ...

Re: What models are left?

Image

Just basic colours / areas etc down at the moment. Proper texturing to begin shortly.

EDIT: the funky squares will be alpha'd wheels, by the way
