Re: Super cool idea

Change Spring.GetGaiaTeamID to Spring.GetGaiaTeamID().

The omitting the () means you will use the function itself rather than what the function returns.

Re: The case of xzalion.

I totally agree. And it's not just about losing one person, other devs will be discouraged from posting because they see that they will be lynched if they take a wrong step. Just ignore threads about unconvincing projects or questions that are too trivial! I'm in favor of a much more active moderati...

Re: Small Projects!

Wow, the scorn squad is out in force. Stop pouncing on new modders, they can't act like spring engine pros from day 1. Being hostile won't help them, it will just sap their motivation. Ideas are so much more valuable than the implementation. It's easy to do a boring mod. It's really hard to do a fun...

Re: Super cool idea

An argument is a variable you give to a function, for example in Spring.GetUnitPosition(unitID), unitID is the argument. The docs ( http://springrts.com/wiki/Lua_MoveCtrl, http://springrts.com/wiki/Lua_Scripting ) tell you what arguments a "Spring." function takes. For example: Spring.MoveCtrl.SetPo...

Re: We need a TODO list filled by all engine devs

Yeah, a fully-featured project management system is not necessarily cumbersome, in the SpringDownloader project on google code, we make a new issue for every smallest thing, even unimportant stuff that takes 2 minutes to implement. It takes like 15 seconds, and the gui is clear and responsive.

Re: We need a TODO list filled by all engine devs

redmine + http://www.redmine.org/wiki/redmine/PluginStuffToDo +1, a project management system seems perfect for that. There are many to choose from, if you don't like one in particular. Devs create issues which can be features or bug fixes, set the priority and add them to milestones. Then a dev ca...

Re: [Req] Linux-based coder to help maintain SD

An internal lobby would be pretty different from an external one: it would probably be minimalist, have no downloader and it would be less convenient to idle in it... I don't see it making external lobbies obsolete. Also open source projects have a high death rate so everything would stall if develo...

Re: just some musing about a tower/maze defense

I think I'll give this give this a shot. Predetermined paths advantages: less repetitive (many levels with different paths) turrets are reset between levels, gives an opportunity to try new tactics allies can respawn between levels turrets don't need to be grouped in a wall to be useful Turrets crea...

Re: just some musing about a tower/maze defense

The chickens Lua is almost certainly 0% useful for this project. But then the logic probably won't be very complex, most of the work will be adapting it to the game design as it evolves. Imo the required work is this: 80% balancing/making sure it's fun for more than 3 games 15% GUI Lua 5% game logic...

Re: Moderators not moderating

It's true, none of the moderators in spring do anything, most of the time they aren't even there and most of them never actually play. Whoever chooses the moderators either doesn't give a shit or is a bit dim. You most likely won't get unbanned, in fact this thread is probably going to be deleted. ...

If you're asking about the mission editor missions, the data files are pretty version-independent, but the mission framework scripts and the mission editor need to be updated. Also, the mod on which the mission is based might be incompatible with the latest Spring version. Another route would be to ...

Re: which AI to use with CA ?

By the way, I think the continues gameplay changes are one reason why there is no AI for CA.
CA gameplay doesn't actually change that much, there has been a recent big update but the preceding one was over two years ago. CA game mechanics are pretty stable.

Re: NO ban

If somebody joins an autohost with a different account in order to dodge a ban, report him to a moderator, who will set up a server-wide ban, if necessary.
