Remember, the game is still well over a year away, they have plenty of time to add lots of features...

And GZ, Caydr was quoting part of the article. Complain to PC Gamer about not mentioning WD, not him.

Yeah, in fact, I know the UT2003/2004 Star Wars mod (called UT2003/4 Troopers, IIRC) got permission from LucasArts to continue merrily along their way, so it's not unprecedented... the only reason I can see them trying to shut down something like SWTA is because of the upcoming SW RTS already mentio...

They listened to you guys about the ghost buildings, why wouldn't they listen to us here when we're handing them the code to do it?

Tralala.

Then what's the point of your argument? If they both "reduce quality" (I've found that on maps that don't have compression up the wazoo, you can't notice in minispring anyway), why go around messing with the engine to accept larger textures and stuff when we have effectively doubled the available si...

OH, I thought of a good suggestion! Let mods have the ability to enable/disable "features" of the engine, such as always-on-auto-radar-targetting and that ghost-buildings-stay-on-map-when-you-scout thing. Maybe other things like terrain deformation, but the first two alone would definitely be apprec...

Remember, in the TA manual it is said that the armor on all of the TA units is designed to act like one giant atom, rather than trillions of unique ones ;)

No, the point is that you got the amount of metal the object is supposed to give for EACH con unit reclaiming. Say you have a rock worth 100 metal, and reclaim it with 10 air cons; that's +1000 metal for you, off a rock worth 100. This is known of multi reclaiming, it's cheating, it's wrong, and it'...

Yes, they are, but they would certainly make things easier and more versatile. Take custom units for example; many of them are restricted to using the OTA click, OK, move, etc sounds (in OTA, of course) because it'd be too much hassle for an end user to deal with sound.tdf files for multiple units.....

It's not a bug. Well, it's not a bug in the sense of an engine bug. Whether or not it's a good gameplay element is debatable, but it's an XTA "feature", not a general engine thing. Just use the OTA patch :P

Flame wars aside, I don't think I should include Minispring by default quite yet. The engine is updated too much right now, and for all we know the next version may indeed make minispring default globally. It also just tacks on unnecessary file size to it at this point. I'm currently working on the ...

Lava and acid is possible as of 0.50b2, get with the times ;) See the Lava and Two Hills topic in the Maps forum. I'll tack on a couple suggestions. Basically, I'd like to see far more data defined on a per-unit basis in the unit FBI files: -Make the gamedata\sound.tdf information definable in the u...

Yay for buying into hype. You can't know if the game will be good or not until you actually play it. Of course the promotional videos look good, that's what they are FOR, and 90% of the time they are full of crap anyway. Until we actually get to play the game, we can't know. Like someone above said,...
