If the problem is engines taking up too much space on the server, then it can be solved without download issues by having the server act as an LRU reverse proxy cache for some other server that sits at someone's home.

Another 8 of the hosted engines fell off the build server, and another (old) newbie + me wasted time debugging this.

Now there are 10 such hosts. In other words, 22% of all hosts offer games on engines that cannot be downloaded. Good job!

In the interim period, the server could send an email only if an email address was provided. The server knows when the email address is provided, naturally.

For now the option to use relayhosts will be hidden by default. Since whatever happens would probably be new development, I think we can return back to the drawing board and ask ourselves what we want from it. I think that building it to be Spring-specific will again land us into the same situation ...

Why was CHANGEACCOUNTPASS removed in the same commit that added the email things? Unrelated, when will email verification start working? New SL (with email support) can't be released because it is going to confuse the hell out of users as the verification code never arrives. I think the whole emails...

The issue persists and inaction continues. Closely related would be hosts hosting development versions. I think for the sake of the average user, these test hosts should be hidden – and an option added to preferences (or something) in SL for them to be shown. Would require an extra flag added to the...

Common_Server and Metal_Server still run the same engine version as a month ago. I think it is fair to say that they are abandoned and thus someone should step in and pull the plug.

Why is it switched off?

When it becomes mandatory, it will make all distro lobbies non-functional overnight. And if distro lobbies are updated before that, then players using them will wonder what to input into the code field.

Can you make it work conditional to the email being supplied?
