Pretty early on, yeah. It goes into 3 tangents and then each of those split into 2 tangents, meaning there's 6 tangents altogether.

Re: Non-Spring Random WIP
Aw yis. Just got the site up and running. http://postmodsoftworks.com/ and http://www.indiedb.com/games/the-old-city Still a lot of shit to do on that front though. The contact page doesn't work correctly and the indiedb page still needs a bunch of stuff. Also, I need to make blog posts at some poin...

Re: Games recommendation
Dear Esther is still my favorite experience (albeit short) in a game world (albeit not even technically a "game" by classical definitions.) Hotline Miami is pretty great for a quick action/stealth/puzzle game. Dishonored is great fun, but, I'll admit, the artstyle is a huge part of that fo...

What's your RAM like? I have 16gb and I was told this may be the reason I'm not having issues with crashing.

AMD "Mantle"
http://www.techspot.com/news/54134-amd-unveils-revolutionary-mantle-api-to-optimize-gpu-performance.html This is pretty amazing. I really hope it works out. We need some good OS competition in the PC gaming world, and since DirectX is basically the only thing keeping everything on windows, this coul...

Re: Total War Rome 2
I really really enjoy it. A lot of the general complaints people have about instability I haven't experienced. It hasn't crashed once for me and it runs just fine on very high settings with textures and units set to whatever that highest setting is. I don't even have that new of a card either. I'm s...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
(I think both Starcraft storylines were awful, but to each his own.) Mmh I don't think so, video game story lines tend to suck horribly.. You don't see any general quality jump in storylines post 2002 or so whatsoever? Half Life 2/Bioshock 1 and especially 3/Braid/Dead Space/Dear Esther/Dishonored/L...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
That's a wonderfull stance into ending up following wrong ideas just because a specific idea was the one which "won" an arguement, instead of the one which was the best idea. Isn't argumentation based on competing ideas? If the ideas I'm presenting are wrong, just tell me why. I've change...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
Never said the oposite, and im glad it is that way. What i meant was, i still feel theres that weird place for games to use stories/lore just to give it a simple vibe or a soul. It has to have something, even if its just the units themselves having cool command voices. I'm down for lore. That's doa...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
bob, but who says it has to be the same level of a FPS. Nothing wrong with an RPG, nothing Wrong with a first person hack and slash, hell I loved wc2/3 and I love borderlands. I found duke nukem 3d to be great and blood 2 to be great fun as far as a story. I liked bioshock but that is compairing ap...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
well i would prefer no campaign than a hastly made shity one... The basic point I'm trying to make is that it'd be so incredibly difficult to actually make a good linear campaign with a story that it might as well be impossible. Additionally, they aren't structured for it as a company. So, yes, I a...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
The TA campaign but with spherical maps... I seriously don't see how the shape of the map destroys any sense of a linear/non-linear campaign. Populous 3 managed it, heck homeworld maps didnt even have terrain and that didnt stop them having a linear campaign The shapes of the maps aren't the issue....

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
There is nothing particular about the RTS genre that makes it unsuitable for campaigns - see Warcraft and Starcraft franchises. There's way more to it here than that, of course. While I personally thought the Warcraft/Starcraft campaigns had awful stories with really no artistic value, the only rea...

Re: Random WIP 2013+
Mostly cylindrical shapes look a little meh and not each and every quad has to be isolated with a little work on the atlas IMO. I do think atlasing gives you the bonus of a coherent style accross multiple models in very little time but this is overdone I think, I mean this isn't OTA anymore. Someho...

Re: New Console Generation
You're saying online games are massive. I point out they may seem bigger than they are since you don't hear from people without internet. I'm not sure what you mean by "seem." If online games are making a great deal more money than non-online games, then doesn't it stand to reason that th...

Re: New Console Generation
It is easier because the Internet is not only used to unlock games, but also to chat on forum or IM between gamers. How and why would companies like Microsoft use that as a scale for what is and isn't profitable? If the majority of your sales come from games that are always online (exclusively mult...

Re: New Console Generation
These games are massive. I am reasonably confident that it is easier to hear from people who have a reliable net than from offline players playing oldies. How do you measure the mass of a game? How is it easier? The only language companies speak is profit. If you aren't speaking profit to them, the...
