XTA-CE project re-launched
Renamed to XTC! well some may remember about 6 months ago, EnlightenedOne and myself were ranting and raving about the need for a comeback of the older XTA mods. then we argued alot and all was forgotten so now ive come back and am putting the final touches on a program that can do it all for us =D...

Re: featuremap.
if your using mothers mapconv, i believe the trees provided are either built into spring or mothers mapconv, (there was an argument about this at some point n i forget the answer) anyway, im pretty sure that tree placement and custom features is red colours though dont quote me its a long time since...

feature map
heyya, im about to make a tool to make the creation of feature maps easier (i hope)... so feature maps contain grass, trees/features and geovents. i know mapconv doesnt like 2 red pixels places within 3-4 pixels of eachother, is there a safe distance (in Px) between 2 features? and it doesnt like 2 ...

Re: Brand new mapping tools
well, ive nearly finished the heightmap to gradientmap converter, a few little bugs to work out yet... somehow coloured pixels are getting into it all? =/ that and because im working on neighbouring pixels it exponentially declines to black, so it works, but slopes atm are highlighted by 98% black =...

New mapconv?
Heyya, ive got to do a programming project that'll last me a few weeks, and i decided to do something with .bmp files. talked to the people in the mapping dept and they seem to want a new mapconv. anyway, it seems like a good plan, DevIL doesnt seem too hard, but besides that, what does mapconv actu...

Re: Brand new mapping tools
ahh sorry sorry i believe there is confusion, id use EasyBMP to get my points for my degree and make the simple tools like gradient map / tree placer. for the mapconv project i'll use DevIL however DevIL doesnt seem as complex as i imagined it to be so maybe ill use that for everything. besides that...

Re: Brand new mapping tools
if i do make another mapconv i'll have to use DevIL, and since DevIL does everything EasyBMP does, i wont need EasyBMP, however EasyBMP has enough functionality to make the other tools i suggested and i see no reason to use something more complex then neccessary. on the other hand im looking into De...

Re: Brand new mapping tools
whatever i make i think im going to use EasyBMP library for alot of it, unless i need something specific from another library
mainly because its stupidly simplistic...
anyway it should take in any uncompressed bmp files.

Re: Brand new mapping tools
unfortunately i only have 3 weeks to do this, and i know nothing of what format spring wants the maps in, besides that its something to do with Nvidia's DDS format. where could i find out this info? i dont mind making a crack at remaking the compilers only that it'll probably involve more research t...

Brand new mapping tools
heyya for my university course ive got to make a few C++ projects, so i was thinking of making some that help in the creation of textures. there are 2 that i can think of at the moment, a) a hightmap -> gradientmap converter, make the map white on vertical cliffs and black on the plains b) heightmap...

i thaught that this was OTA. probably doesnt work any more, i think its still in .hpi format. u cant say that u want OTA except for this 1 little thing. coz then its not OTA any more. thus the birth of eXtended balanced and absolute annihilation (theres probably some i forgot about or missed.) thoug...

i havnt read all the posts here but i always assumed that min distance was based on a collision sphere, not XY coords. if not changing it to work on a collision-sphere or point-distance would be preferable, however this would take longer too calculate. quickfix would be too have an fbi tag along the...
