Re: Ta: Kingdoms Spring

Afraid "free as a bird" was sarcasm... but being half-British, half of me is possessed by a psychopathic sense of duty. Azaremoth, what have you done  Let's see if I can't fit things somewhere in my current list of priorities... Master's Degree (till July '13) Biotop (till it's done - hopeful...

Re: Ta: Kingdoms Spring

TAK was dead as a dodo long before Meridian, CAK or my "fugly" mod even really kicked off, so I don't think it's continuing, no. Meridian's moddb page went dead a while back, and I haven't heard anything much about CAK since bailing. As for me, someone on the board ended up pointing out that, ironic...

Re: Ta: Kingdoms Spring

We were all sort of working together in a sense, it's just that we had different projects. I was too green to be much use to the other two, but Maackey helped CarRepairer on his project and vice-versa, and I sort of... play-tested Meridian a bit :? I stopped because I had exams and then didn't reall...

Re: Ta: Kingdoms Spring

The trouble with fantasy settings is that Spring is designed made for tanks and robots, like TA before it: you can't stretch polygons, so it's hard to make things look organic. Unless you're Azaremoth.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Yeah, I had a look in the list of directories that were being checked. The annoying thing about Synaptic is that it doesn't actually remove things when you tell it to - so I've got two "spring" binaries, one new one old: I checked both of them manually and got rid of the old one just to make sure, t...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Spring Lobby is 0.29 for Jaunty, and the source was built from spring_0.80.5.2, which is very strange seeing as the error says 0.80.5.1 :?

The lua is in the source folder, maybe I can just move it to the right place :P

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Dang... the pop'up just says "could not find 'gamedata/parse_tdf.lua' code" by the way, and I can't find that file anywhere so maybe it doesn't even exist.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Sham bam bamena! Fantastic, and there I was thinking that it was all chosen at random :P I'd sortof guessed that if /usr/share/ => /usr/local/share then logically /usr/lib64 => /usr/local/lib64 but the file was actually /usr/local/ lib /libunitsync.so in the end. Is it going to make a difference th...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

I've got them pointing at /usr/local/bin/spring and /usr/lib64/spring/unitsync.so - the first one I know is correct, because I can run it from that executable and everything works fine (the other executable didn't). http://i45.tinypic.com/xe1is7.png Still no luck with maps/mods - they are in the dat...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Hell yeah  We have music - you're both brilliant :-) Or problem now is that SpringLobby doesn't seem to be picking up any maps/mods - this may be because my original installation was in /usr/share/games/spring and the new one is in /usr/local/share/games/spring - but that's a bit odd seeing...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Yeah, I could on find "libxcursor1" (which I'd installed) in Synaptic - got "libxcursor-dev" through aptitude and everything seems to have done smoothly. Right: it's "made", now I just need to do the "make install" part, which means getting rid of the original version, without deleting all the maps ...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Good tip for cmake - went through it, grabbed all the packages I'd missed along the way (though I did try to get them all from the beginning). Not sure where I should be building this thing (I think you underestimate my ignorance) but for now I'm just checking that I've got everything. I'm stuck at ...

Had a go and, um yeah, might actually be good if you walked me through it

I've done a year of CS but I'm not all that comfortable compiling huge projects like this one.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Cool :-)

I'll give it a try - now that my exams are over I can justify coming back to Spring a little
Funnily enough had I kept having fun during the break, I might have been more productive - I spent all the time I would've spent with Spring procrastinating on the internet :|

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit - problems with sound, music and zombies!

Trust me - this is not a problem with Pulseaudio: I've tried with and without on 32, 64 bit 9.04 and 9.10: always the same problem. May be hardware: what is your rig Vantskruv?

Re: 10 Noob questions

Karmic messed everything up for me, it was like the difference between XP and Vista, and Vista was one of the reasons I left Windose in the first place. I've gone back to Jaunty now - what worked for me was to purge the lot and reinstall it :?
